I think scoring seems to be the big difference. I know we have defensive frailties, but when you look at the table half the teams are having trouble keeping the ball out of the net. That ranges all the way up the table.

Yes we have been poor at the back, but last season we had our strikers on the pitch playing well.
Rob's possibly the best of the new signings but he needs the ball to score, so will another forward help?
Another 2 defenders? where from? as all the teams are possibly looking at the league(s) above as well.
Last time we changed the team almost as much, it took a season and a half to "gel".
Gelling isn't the problem, it's too many players that are similar. If they all do the same thing, we don't have a team, we have 11 players.

The positive thing at the mo is the points we require to stay up will probably be less than last year, which is about the 50 mark. thats only about 1.3 points a game, which we are capable of. The problem is that most teams won a third of their game's last year, which is our biggest problem

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

game was as i exspected really, seems to be the pattern so far, put our chances away and we would have all been saying wot a great win, not doing much wrong really, silly mistakes at the back and not taking our chances, still confident we will be ok, havent been overun by any team yet, still creating lots of chances, lets not panic, it can only get better. up the darts  xtip

It's now thursday and I have thought long and hard about tuesday's game, and I am at a loss as to what else we can do. Tony K seemed to me to have got over whatever his problem was from the last 2 games and to me he had a reasonable game. I do believe we missed Adam xbow xbow xbow in the back four, but Ossie was an able replacement, although having said that, he did seem to let the attacker past him a couple of times rather easily. I definitely think that the 4-4-2 formation is the way to go, and after a few more games once Rob and Brendan have got an understanding I think they will start putting the chances away.  As to the penalty miss, I cannot comment as I was on the halfway line, but we certainly must put those sort of chances away. I did not see any sort of discussion taking place about who was going to take it, so full marks to Jamie for stepping up.

I decided to miss Tuesday's match as I had to return to Lincoln the following morning for a meeting in the evening. I think a late arrival home the previous Tuesday, caused by delays after the illness of the referee and the poor bus service also influenced my decision. It sounds as though it wasn't too bad a game to miss! For what it's worth, I was pleased to see Cass had played alongside Haworth and hope that formation will be given a chance.

I have a meeting near Charing Cross on Saturday morning, so I hope to get to the cup tie and travel back to Lincoln in the evening.

I don't want to get everyone started on the theme of luck/referees etc, but the guy who refereed Croatia- England looked a good bet for the Ryman in a year or two. He seemed fairly with it for a while, but the high feet for the Croatia equaliser could'nt have been much higher without a trampoline. I liked the England solution, which was to score another goal and not let Croatia do anything else. While I realise it may be a while before young Walcott fancies turning out at PP in a Darts shirt, we could give Cassie a start, as he seems to be causing the opposition some panic.

I was never happy at school. This one time the headmaster called me into his office. I was terrified. My friend jimmy went to his office and he could'nt sit down for a week, so I'm thinking please, please don't let him find me sexually attractive.

That's ok then, lets sign some more defenders that let the forwards go past them.............................................

Let's be honest Ossie has been a great servant to The Darts producing at least 7 out of 10 performances during some pretty dark days but he is just a squad player now and will just about do a job if required but that is all!

If he plays more than 10 league games this season a/ there has been suspensions/injury pile up or b/ we arent good enough for this league!!!!
