derren ibriham is a fine prospect but he is only a youngster and is our U21 KEEPER and only No2 cause we dont have anyone else [ no disrespect to him] and currently he is pretty slight and NOT that tall - still to develop

no reason to rush him and possibly wreck his confidence [ this happened to james tedder and it took him 2 years to mature ] as has been stated plenty of good keeper NOT getting a game

The main thing was that he was too inexperienced to be thrown in and give him a couple of years.
My question is, if he is such a rookie, why is he our no. 2??  xshrug

Because, you don't get many experienced guys sitting on the bench at this level, as most are on a pay as you play basis. They take anywhere rather than no money. The question you should be asking, is how do we know he is capable for this level UNTIL he plays?
we thought the team would be easy mid table as well. If we need him use him .

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

tony has told us that IF kess got injured he would bring in a loan keeper as it makes no sense having a quality keeper sitting on the bench most weeks , getting good money and p....d off cause he is NOT getting a game !!!!!

so presume that tony has a list to choose from should kess NOT be fit for saturday

interesting ????????????????????????

Can’t help feeling that letting Matt Reed slip through the net has back fired on us. For whatever reasons he decided to go to Sittingbourne and was not be prepared to fight for the No. 1 jersey is a mystery. Now it looks a possibility that we will have to bring in a loanee to cover Kess. As for Derren Ibrahim; it would be totally unfair on bringing him in at this time. Should he play and have a bad game could have a negative effect on his development.

I'd give Deren a go. He's a sensible guy, has a lot of good support around him with John Macrae, Craig Clark and everyone with Henno.

I don't think he'd give a bad account.

Not wishing to insinuate one way or t'other about whether to replace Kessie but for the record I thought that young Deren gave an excellent account of himself during his appearance against VCD in the pre-season friendly (including, if I remember correctly, an excellent one-on-one stop). Whether old enough, big enough or otherwise he certainly looks as though he's got what it takes.  xnod

Well if Derren plays I for one will stand behind his goal and give him some support. A few VCD fans is one thing, but a whole bunch of Hastings fans is a different matter.

Whoever keeps goal for us on saturday has my full support.

But has Matt Reed slipped through the net? In his position of course it would be tough on Sittingbourne but surely you'd want to play at as high a level as possible? If Kess is indeed injured, the FA cup game is an ideal opportunity for Ibrahim to warm up his gloves in first team action.

Steve Northwood - remember him? Is only sitting on the bench at Maidstone as far as I am aware and I know he was speaking to TB pre-season, so I assume his name will be on the list.

Getting back to the match, the FA Cup is very important, £3000 to the winners of this tie and if our squad is to improved at some stage, every penny counts! Expecting a tough match especially as we have suspensions/injuries, that's what a squad is for so expect to see starts for Ryno and Powell. A good cup run will do wonders for morale on and off the pitch, we need a good start Saturday, how about playing like we did in the last 20 mins Tuesday night?

Come on you Darts, BELIEVE.

Kebabus has just stated; £3000 for the winners. It makes even more sense now to use an experienced keeper. If our league form continues then this will affect our gate and in return less money coming into the club. So a good FA Cup run is imperative if our league results don’t pick up.

In the league we are playing you need a big keeper who can command his area and save the long range shots. If you put Derren in goal against the teams we play would prove too much for him. Make no mistake, teams at this level find out weaknesses very quickly and prey on them.

I agree with Martin if Matt Reed has not already signed for Sittingbourne then TB should tempt him to join us.

I hear the prize for the winner of this is £3000 , increase on last year.

Indeed, the prize fund was published in Ryman Bulletin Number 3 (25.8.2008)
I have copied the section here:   http://www.thedarts.eu/2008-2009/fcp0809.gif
