Spongey you're obviously not well appreciated amongst the Tooting or Mitcham fans ; this is from their forum -
"Good support from Dartford but will someone please shoot the geezer with the drum. It don't belong at football son anymore than half time entertainment does. "

 xshake

Got to admit I was one of those that was sceptical about the drum, but I'm a convert  xnod xnod

If it was just a case of incessant monotone banging of a drum (like Banksy does !!) it would get on my t**s but Sponge certainly does have some talent--think even Duke has been won over  xtip

john what you have to understand is i bought drums to the darts to get the atmoshpere going (even if im not in sponges league in drumming) as well as get more people singing , but i presume your not a choir member and just one of those halfway line "moaners" we have at home games.
I will see no need for a drum when we rise up the leagues and take 1000+ fans to away games and all sing but that is a long time away.

Being an old git of 50+ years of following the Darts I wasn't to happy about the drum originally, but Sponge can play the thing. I like his solo which runs into the Dartford chant, long live the quality drumming and long live the drummers. Jeremy , any chance that we can get some drumming lessons for Banksy on the rates??.

Wrong on both counts Banksy  !!  I'm a loyal choir member and someone  who gives 100 % support to the team home and away (and would respectfully point out has been to a damn sight more games than you this year xanorak)--I'll introduce myself next time I see you and buy a pint of cider to show there's no hard feelings !!

No offence was meant --I know how enthusiastic you are for the Darts ---- was just pointing out your  drumming was not just not in Sponge's League  xshake xshake

thing is people who know a bit should know that sponge is on a snare and there for can play much hit many more beats per minute than someone on a tom drum because of the elastication or something of the snare versus the tom. Also the sound is much tighter and sounds good when being played at the ridicilously high rates that sponge manages to play it is  xnod However, Banksy and myself occasionaly  xgiggle on the tom cant reach those rates and so have to stick to the so called simple minded drumming although i think when Sponge's fast rhythms are complimented by simple "dum, dum, dum"'s it actually doesnt sound too bad. Anyway, i think (not saying or pointing at anyone in particular) that Banksy should be recognised for being the giver of the drum to Dartford, from tambourine to tom, he, like him or not  xwhis did give the choir that extra kick in the pre-sponge days but he should be remember for that  xnod

(...no matter how crap he is..  xfinger xfinger xfinger xfinger xfinger)
