Having missed the match on Tuesday because of the cancellation of Fastrack buses from Greenhithe, it looks as though this will be the only first team match I will see during my stay in Kent, even though I am here for seventeen days. I'm hoping the quality of this match will make up for the lack of quantity!

One of Oxford's top strikers is suspended tomorrow (he played for Dunfermline and other league clubs) xbop

i was going along with shuffling around with noble/barnes/ryno etc BUT after chatting with trevB he came up with a midfield of ryno noble day and butters - which i like - imagine this lot feeding cody and rob

ITS A HOME GAME [ IN THE CUP] TIME FOR AN ATTACKING FORMATION ??????????????????

OR

we could go defensive play barnes and white in centre midfield and win ugly 1-0 ???????????

UP THE DARTS

I would take the first option Duke; if we do the latter then we are asking for pressure to pile up on us and eventually we would concede. We need to go into the game positively with the intentions of winning the game comfortably.

As much as i like the look of this midfield line up imho it's far to attacking minded and we wouldn't have any sort of defensive cover at all as all 4 of these midfielders are basically forwards not defenders, which at the moment with the way our defence is playing and some carrying injuries it's certainly not a good thing.

I'd possibly go for Ryno  Day   White   Butterworth if Ryno is fully fit otherwise i'd go for this
Butterworth White  Barnes  Day as it gives us a bit more defensive cover.

I would give Noble a rest and if needed bring him on as a super sub as he's not looking like his normal self at the moment he looks tired to me which isn't any surprise due to the amount of effort he puts in.

My midfield would be:-

Day - Barnes - Noble - Ryno or Butterworth

He wasn't even prepared to walk 5 miles, let alone 500!
(PS: He could maybe have caught the 480 to the Brent and walked up Park Road....)

Tony J and myself will be taking it in turns today in a very wet press box as Stephen at Kentish Football will agree with. Team news: Young, Coyle, Osborne, Powell, Guest, Barnes, White, Day, McDonald, Haworthand Noble. Subs: Hayes, Cass, Flanagan, Butterworth and Ibrahim.

Oxford's team: Harrison, Sawlsbury, Davis, Gunn, Savage, Jackman, Gardner, Malone, Faukneer, Brooks, Bell. Subs: Lyon, Redknap, Pond, Rendell

If the updates stop for any reason, it's because the weather has deteriorated sufficiently enough to electrocute us. Stephen's already given up with the updates, and it's still chucking down here.

I hope you are sitting nice and warm at home. If so, we're going to begin. The teams are in the tunnel...
