I have to say I was disappointed to go out of the Kent Senior Cup Tuesday night against Bromley. In the first half I felt we played some good football and should have scored more goals from the chances we created. There was also some positives to come out of the game Flan and Guesty getting a full 90 minutes after injury and also giving Deren another first team game as well as Karl Dent a 16 year old a player who I have had good reports about from the academy.
I decided to appeal James White's sending off last week for violent conduct which in my book means James deliberately elbowed the player in the face. I felt that was wrong and I also don't think James caught him with his elbow but contact was made. The Ref made strange decisions all afternoon against both sides, and I have just found out we have lost the appeal and James for three games.V ery disappointing
Tomorrow we have a big league derby match away to Dover. There is always going to be a lot of pride in such games on and off the pitch.Although we lost the game earlier in the season the fixture attracted nearly two thousand supporters who in my opinion watched an excellent game from both teams which was a credit to both clubs.
On the injury front things got a little better this week with Flan and Guesty playing and training last night and Jamie Day also coming through a training session last night. Lee Noble will have a late fitness test on a troublesome groin but my hardest job with Lee is trying to hold him back for any game let alone this one.
Our opponents have had a fantastic first half to the season and without doubt are a very good side, but I think we are a good side and our ace card could be when we are good we are very good and in my opinion can beat any side in this league.
Thanks for your support
Tony
