Staines Town (H) [Live Text/Reaction]
« on: January 12, 2009, 04:25:59 PM »

Has it been called off yet or are we actually going to see a game this week?

I've forgotten what Princes Park looks like.

I hope the game is on this Saturday, as I've been re-arranging my schedules as I can't get down to the Maidstone match, so now looking forward to travelling down from Merseyside for the Staines match instead to see my first match at PP this season. Well, I need to use my season ticket sometime don't I !!!

I'm just holding back buying my rail ticket until the end of the week to make sure this freezing weather doesn't cause any more postponements. It has thawed up here now for a couple of days, but even the Tranmere home match was postponed on Saturday, in spite of covers being in place. Mind you, it was very cold  xshake

A message to Gilesy to say that as I am now looking at coming down earlier than original expected, I will pay my fiver for the match sponsorship to you, or Gary, on Saturday. If the game is postponed, then I will put my cheque in the post.

Looking forward to a good game, one I would call a six pointer in our efforts to climb the table. Both teams are possibily going to be a bit rusty, so hopefully our community pitch being available for training will turn out to be a bonus for us.

In this context, what's the significance of the dates against Jamie Day's name: 13/01/2009 - 17/01/2009?

Thanks for the info Dave. I wouldn't have minded, but I'm trying to keep track of it all, at the behest of Sonytino.

I have no idea, i lifted the details straight from the FA website. Strangely there is no mention Of Cody or Lee's suspension.

Staines look as though they are/were in decent form with 4 wins and a draw from their last 5 games so will be a tough game.

Interesting to see how both teams react to actually having to play a game as Staines havent laced their boots since the 27th December!

Should be a good game, i think they are probably the best team we have played this season. A very attacking team that will be going for the win. Although when they do drop points it has been mostly away.

And of cause you would be doing us a big favour (dafc)  :-) Evan though that would probably mean i would owe Delboy another pint !!

You could argue that maybe one or two of those suspensions were very avoidable. Mind you, Dafter is back, which is a positive and hopefully we can play Noble in an attacking role, as his pace will scare them. If we do lose then maybe it might make some of the suspended players realise that by not maintaining their dicipline during matches their actions can give their team-mates problems in later matches

The fact is that like it or not we will have to do without them. personally I feel a bit better about the starting 11 we'll be able to put out this Saturday than the one that face Staines earlier in the season.

To me Staines didn't look as good as I thought they would and we looked quite good once Butterworth scored in the first half. Unfortunately defensive errors cost us dear that day, but I'd say that the current defence is a lot better now than back in the early part of the season.

I don't see any reason why we can't take the game to them and get a result. We've done well against teams from higher leagues this season so I'm quite optimistic. Plus, we are well overdue for a win at PP.

Overdue a win at PP? We've won our last 2!

I hope we don't play Lee at all. He is suspended :)
