13th February 2009 Notes
« on: February 13, 2009, 01:19:17 PM »

Since our last home game against Maidstone most of the talk has been about Cody's transfer to Norwich. For the second time in the last couple of seasons
we have had a player who as played so well and attracted the attention of league clubs with both players being transferred and becoming professionals.

I have to tell you that has a manager when you are in this position it is without doubt a catch 22 situation. What I would say is that we have learnt a
lot from the Dave Martin transfer which we took into the negotiations for the Cody MacDonald move.

I did not want to let Dave or Cody go but how do you stop a non league player the opportunity to become a professional footballer and in Cody's case we turned down two other offers from another league club for his services.Norwich made an offer on the Friday and improved it after the game against Maidstone which is the one we accepted. We all wish Cody the very best for the future and in my opinion its going a very bright one.

So lets move on we need another forward to compete with Cass and rob, the knock on affect of any transfer means when I go in for a player the price goes sky high because of what people have read in the papers or on forums,I will not be rushed into any deal that is not right for the team or the club but I will find someone that's for sure.

I think the players performances over the last few months as been excellent and they have deserved the credit that they have received.Having a fully fit squad makes a big difference but having the belief is even more important

Thanks for your support
