Harrow Borough (H) [Audio/Text/Reaction]
« on: March 09, 2009, 06:16:29 PM »

In the absence of a new thread for this game (where are you Eagle88?), I thought I would start one for a change.

With the utmost respect to Harrow, how did we lose the corresponding away game - and despite a wonder goal from Cody?

Time to put matters right and get back to winning ways.  I don't care about the formation - three points are essential.

See you Saturday.

We lost as it started raining in the 2nd half and robin Shroot decided to play well !!! Still Harrow should not be underestimated they will make it a hard game for us so we will need to be back to our best to get a win.

Have to agree Banksy you that HB should not be undrestimated. I know Robin Shroot, who did cause some of the damage in the first match, has moved on to Birmingham City and last week he was sent out on loan to Walsall for a month.

I was just looking at some stats on another posting on the amount of home and away games the cxhallenging clubs have played. Additionally, on a points per away game played, we  have the 5th best record in the league to date behind Dover, Carlshalton, Staines and Tonbridge, so on that away basis, we well deserve to be up there challenging.

However our average home points per game to date is only 1.29, down in 8th place amongst the leaders, with only Carlshalton worse than us. But things aren't as bad as that really because we only gained 6 points from our first 9 home games (ave .33 points per game)  xshake xshake. Since then, our last 6 home games have won us 16 points (ave 2.66 points per game, with 6 wins and a draw), a figure only beaten by Dover and Staines.  xbop xbop

So it really is in our own hands and really looking forward to the run in towards the end of the season and some big crowds at PP. Starting with Harrow, who I'm sure will be battling like mad in their attempts to move away from the relegation zone. Hopefully we can take the points and also give Margate and Ramsgate as fellow Kent clubs some more breathing space as they try to remain in the RPL.

COYD. We can do it!

Harrow will be a tough nut to crack, we need an early goal to settle the nerves. Don't forget, we have a disadvantage by being at home, more people on the lads backs if things go wrong. And now with the added element of the boo boys.

One eye on the scores tonight with a few of our rivals in action! Be interested to see if Hornchurch can produce another excellent result at Carshalton tonight!! Draw would suit us very nicely indeed!

In the away game we played well first half but only took one of our chances.

From memory all our substitutions that day were influenced by injuries which disrupted our flow and in the second half they ripped into us in the pouring rain and Shroot was good.

Frankly Harrow impressed me in the second half more than a number of more highly placed teams have done. They were bottom that day and we do not seem to like being ungentlemanly enough to beat bottom clubs. We need the three points on Saturday but this is one that I am not taking for granted.

after tonights results involving carshalton and sutton , nothing less than 3pts on saturday will do as it is now a 100 metre sprint to the finish line

cassie and rob up front for me with carley sitting just behind them and bring on the goals as no doubt the 5 at the back will NOT let any in

lets hope that the noise levels return to normal after a quiet last month - a good team performance will be a major help !!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit the second half performance from Harrow Borough was as good as any team that i  have seen this season. They moved the ball at pace and tore us to shreds.I should imagine that Tommy Osbourne will be very relieved that he does not have to mark Robin Shroot again.

Would I be right in saying that we will be playing with a comic relief themed ball on saturday?

That's what it says on the Ryman website - Ryman League clubs only, apparently, under a special Ryman sponsorship deal.  Have to wait and see if they actually turn up, though. And with Guesty's usual clearances, I reckon we'll need at least six! xbop

i dont think its a rule that you have to use the red ball as several clubs last week end either only used it for part of the match or didnt use it at all
i thought it looked odd at margate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

looknig at the fixtures other teams in and around the playoffs have it tough!

Ashford Town (Middx) v Sutton United

Carshalton Athletic v Tonbridge Angels

Dartford v Harrow Borough

Dover Athletic v Staines Town
