If it's any consolation, I have said on a number of occasions this season, wearing my Tranmere hat, that Rovers have not been playing well, yet had been on the fringe of the playoff places. Some of the Rovers games had been dire to watch, with silly mistakes in defence and often wondering where the next goal was coming from. Suddenly though, fortunes have turned and we played Leicester City off the park last Wednesday and they came to Prenton Park having been undefeated in 20 games. The signs had been there for a couple of games recently and the good performances, at least at home, continued into last Saturdays home game v Huddersfield, who were despatched 3-1.
The point is, not only have Tranmere made up lost ground on the play off teams, but actually become one of the play off teams as things stand. How will things pan out? Haven't a clue because 6 0f Rovers last 9 games are away games, with the away results not making good reading.
Effectively, The Darts and other teams still have about 20% of the season still to play for. TB sounded very disappointed in his Podcast interview. But equally, the push up the league from a poor start to the season to get into the playoff positions has come off the back of some good runs. I'm also hoping we don't blow it having worked so hard to get up towards the top, and a strong finish will be required to pinch one of the play off places. It's going to be a tight finish, and I am more concerned that Horsham or Hornchurch could be the danger teams to sneak a playoff place. Nothing is guaranteed in this game. But if we can recover from this stutter, then equally a place for the Darts in the playoffs is still very much on.
