jd is the complete midfielder, we are very lucky to have him, he could easily play at a higher level, just hope we can hold on to him, and if you cant see that well you must be blind, just thd sort of post that tb has been moaning about and who could blame him, great game by the way, woodsy was mom for me. Up the darts.

As a great man once said, the biggest crime in football is to give the ball away.

Jamie Day may not be as spectacular as certain other players, but he is technically excellent and very, very rarely gives away possession. He quietly goes about his business and is a crucial component of our team. He is the sort of player that is overlooked and under-rated by people who don't really understand anything beyond ... man kick ball, ball go fast, ball go in goal, man good. Jamie is exactly the sort of player we need to keep if we are going to mount a challenge next season.

I don't agree with TB. I think it's beneficial for people who wouldn't know a footballer from a cucumber to come on here and spout their views if only because it gives the rest of us the chance to try and educate them.

I like watching Jamie Day play he links the defence and midfield together and is a very thoughtful player in the middle of a crash bang wallop Ryman Premier League!

Not much to add to the last 5 or 6 posts but I would imagine that he is comfortably our fittest player at the club as he never seems to struggle towards the end of games and since St Albans at Home in my opinion has been a class act for us!

I made the same comment about the sideways passing earlier in the season.  JD keeps the ball well usually, and since that comment by me, he has made some killer balls through to the forwards. He is missing Cody, as he seemed to read the game.

He also defends well and harries the other team a lot. Saturday, though i though he gave the ball away a bit more than he usually does, and he was below par, so I was very surprised he got sponsors MOM.

Saying that, we are very lucky to have a player of his quality, and we do indeed miss him, as we did last week.

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

You may have to put two of us in the furnace because although i dont feel quite so strongly about it as Silverado i still cannot be euphoric about Jamie Day.The first half on saturday it seemed to me every decision he made was wrong ie when to hold on to the ball and when to release it. He did improve after the break but if you gave me  a choice between him or say Eddie McClements i still know who i would rather choose.

my view of jamie day is that his pedigree [arsenal, bournmouth grays etc ] proves he can play but my hope was that when he came to the darts as undoubtedly the senior pro , he would impose himself on our team and get them to play [through him] decent constructive football but durung the last 6 weeks [ prior] to the harlow game this did NOT happen .

fine footballer that jamie day is , in my opinion  eddie mac is still better all around !!!!!!!!!!

ALSO

dont forget that this is a forum and silverado [ like everybody else] is entitled to his opinion and NOT everyone wants to " curry favour " with the management ?????

only problem with eddie mac is his match fitness atm , whether he is still injury prone and we dont know how he will cope with us at ryman premier level as his untried yet.

Quite right Duke it is a forum and everyone is entitled to their opinion, so here goes again.........................

What about the other 10 players helping to play constructive football?? And what about the weeks previous to the last six, are you also saying he didn't play well then?? I find it unbelieveable that one of (if not our best) player is being criticised?? I recall when we signed Jamie even our friends on the South Coast were a bit envious and would have taken him back with open arms, a team that has won the league in March.

I think that Steve Gerrard is better all round than Eddie so why don't we sign him xshake xshake

It's not about "currying favour" with the management but on some occasions it's better to say nothing (thats a first for me)!!

UP THE DARTS

I'm not sure what relevance Eddie Mac has to this discussion. He was my favourite Darts player of recent years but currently he doesn't play for us!
I could undoubtedly list several hundred players all of whom are better than Jamie Day but I could do the same for every player in the squad.

Of course Silverado is entitled to his opinion as we are entitled to shoot it down. What I wouldn't do though is to suggest (like you have done) that just because someone's opinion is different to yours then they must have an ulterior motive for holding it. I'm sure Silverado's opinion is based on his own genuine beliefs and not just because he wants to ingratiate himself to all the miserable old cynics. :-)

I happen to think Jamie Day is a quality player. It has nothing to do with wanting to "curry favour" as you put it. I find it strange that some people fail to see what I believe are obvious qualities in Jamie, but I found it equally strange that certain people thought Alex O'Brien was a good player when I personally thought he wasn't. As a general rule, those of us who try to avoid expressing negative opinions, tend to do so not because we want to curry favour, but because such postings are counter-productive and can only demotivate the individuals concerned. So when we see someone slagging off one of our BEST players, (in Jamie's case, arguably THE best player, technically) the very least we can do is counter those criticisms with something positive.
