Just to add to my previous post, I am booking Gorillaz at the 02 tomorrow. Normally bands like Gorillaz aren't my cup of tea because rap really isn't music (in my humble (!) opinion)

But Damon Albarn and a group from Essex joined together in 2001, their first album self titled Gorillaz was great, with classics such as 19-2000 and Clint Eastwood, then Demon Days in 2005, with songs like Dirty Harry: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALKt_yjjB0s (dislike the rapping after a while) and Dare featuring Happy Mondays front man Shaun Ryder.

Their new album Plastic Beach features songs involving Bobby Womack (!!!!), Mick Jones from THE CLASH Mark E. Smith from The Fall, Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals and Lou Reed from Velvet Underground (Perfect Day, Satellite of Love, Walk on the Wild Side etc). As I said before I'm not always into this kind of music but Gorillaz have great pulling power to get artists to collaborate on their tracks.

Anyone else like them?

I reckon most of what Damon does is worthy of a listen whether it be Blur, Gorillaz, The Good the Bad & The Queen, or even his film soundtracks (I recently purchased the OST to Ravenous). I reckon the O2 show will be a good 'un ... infact I might just pop along myself  xnod

One question Mr Artfuldodger, sir - Why does Mick Jones earn himself (quite rightly it must be said) some BOLD lettering but not so Messers Smith, Rhys or Reed? All of them highly rated in my book, don't ya know  xnod

Oh, absolutely anything, Dodge. As long as it's entertaining then it'll do for me.  I find the older I get the more eclectic my tastes become, ie:

Listening to at the moment: Brian Eno
Last seen: Grimethorpe Colliery Band
Last bought: John Foxx
Last read: Public Enemy biog.

Basically I can listen to almost anything. That said, I can't flippin' stand what people call "R'n'B" these days. Absolute tripe  xshake

Oh, and as for the Clash (all time top 5 band in my opinion) never got to see them live - just too young I'm afraid  xwhis  - but was priviledged to see Strummer & Jones play together at The Astoria. I felt blessed  xbow xbow xbow

Last read: Neville Staples biog. I really do not like this bloke anymore.

KP,

I'm always listening to Brian Eno (and Harold Budd) and I saw The Clash live at the Hammersmith Palais.
I think I saw them somewhere else but I can't remember where.

Last bought: KISS - Sonic Boom (haven't even listened to it yet, but it will be replaced by the Divine Comedy's Bang Goes the Knighthood on Monday)
Last read: Brian Wilson's autobiography - it made me sad.

 :-D That was me !
Actually I'm not totally sure it was the Palais. If it was, it was not the time when they wrote the song about it. I'll have to look for the ticket and check.
