Saw John Carpenter's The Thing last night at the cinema - one off showing of it; looked fantastic on the big screen, and needed it really for the atmosphere. It was also around the correct length of a film - about 90 mins.

The Thing is possibly the only remake that's an improvement on the original.

Hey, what about "Munich", "The Jazz Singer" or the excellent "Brewster's Millions"?

Or even "Heat"?

Saw Dorian Grey today and thought it was ok, a good Brittish effort and a good performance from Colin Firth in a supporting roll.

I saw Dorian Gray on Friday - can't help feeling very disappointed. Colin Firth was excellent, but he normally is - Ben Barnes wasn't ready for a main role, and the story seemed very stunted for the majority of it.

I've also seen (500) Days of Summer; it's a good independent effort

Watched American Psycho and Vantage Point last night for the first time (whilst doing other stuff, so it wasn't a full-attention watch). Is American Psycho the best role that Christian Bale has ever had? Film was quite strange, Fight Club-esque.

Bit disappointed with Vantage Point - the premise was a good one, but it didn't really work too well.

No. No it is not.

(See "Empire of the Sun".)

Saw Surrogates the other day which was a good idea that hadn't really been formed properly and just seemed unfinished.

Also saw Creation last night - better than expected. Paul Bettany played Darwin quite well.

Watched Midnight Meat Train last night with Vinnie Jones .He plays a psycho who slaughters passangers on the underground.Strange film with a ridiculous amount of gore and a odd spiritual ending. Must have taken Vinnie a long time to learn the script because he only has one word in the whole film but he does menacing very well.

Went to see FAME with the mrs last week absolute crap, Kelsey Grammer was the biggest name in the film and his acting was poor. Also watched The Boat That Rocks on dvd lastnight supposedly based on the old pirate station radio caroline. Not a great film apart from the music, funny in places. I fell asleep with about 20 minutes to go.

Saw Summer Holiday (Cliff and co.) all the way through for first time on Sunday.

Quite wierd actually, like a lot of 60's films.

Now onto Wizard of Oz.
