Anyone else seen Watchmen?

Watched it the other night and i can only say....."er? What? Eh?"

Visually very good and the story line around Rorschach is interesting but the rest of it is........dull. The end is pointless as "the Hero" did sod all about it, so they may as well have just filmed the last 5 minutes and said "eveyone dies - the end".

Oh how disappointing. Even more disappointing than The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and that's saying something.

Watchmen is three hours of tedium.

I would recommend the Firm. Surrogates is okay but the plot wasn't formed well enough for me to care that much about it.

Saw the Internationalist with Clive Owen. Very good, I like Mr. Owen. However, not really sure what was happening.

Really liked the other film he was in recently with Jennifer Aniston. Names escapes me, but he meets her on a train and begins an affair etc.

Looking forward to Fast Forward tonight.

No, no no, no etc. If what I hear about The Firm is to be believed I suggest you take your "nawty West 'Am geezer" self xgiggle and go rent the DVD of the original (Gary Oldman, Phil Davis - what more do you need?) ..... unless of course you are talking about the John Grisham/Tom Cruise effort. Either way go and see Surrogates instead.

I've got the original to watch at some point - didn't think the new one was that bad though. Better than Surrogates, anyhow.

The Firm was OK. It was a coming of age/rites of passage film and concentrated more about the FILA and Ellesse tracksuits and wedge haircuts than the scrapping. KP if I remember correctly your haircut circa 1981 would have fitted right in with the casuals.  xnod

The main character's relationship with his parents was a funny story line with the actors playing his parents stealing the film to be honest. I thought it was well worth watching. I watched both Cass and Rise of the Footsoldier last week and they're pretty dismal and depressing.

Hoping to wallow in the delights of a couple of terrible Zombie movies soon. "Boy eats Girl" and "Moto-Cross Zombies from Hell" sound just delightful.By the way has anyone else seen "Plan 9 from Outer Space".Widely accepted as the worst film of all time. xnod

Oooh! No need!

We had a shortend version of Plan 9 on home projector when I was a kid - truly dreadful (thus brilliant) movie. However if you haven't already seen it I thoroughly recommend Tim Burton's film "Ed Wood" starring Johnny Depp based on the life of the director of Plan 9. Absolutely superb movie - Martin Landau won a Oscar for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi (for anyone that doesn't know the story, Lugosi died during the making of a previous movie directed by Wood but the footage was never used. When Wood came to make Plan 9 he decided to use the previously shot film of Lugosi and insert it into Plan 9. He completed the film by simply using a different actor (actually it was his wife's chiropractor - no, seriously) who kept his face hidden behind his vampire cape the entire time because he looked nothing like Lugosi ... GENIUS!) The acting, sets, special effects -if you can call them that- were all absolute rubbish. One of the most unintentionally funniest films ever. A must see!

Zombieland = YES

It's a terrific zombie comedy/bro-mance type film. The cameo is fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed it for a "silly film".

Also just watched Galaxy Quest on Lard's suggestion in the thread previously - Rickman never does a bad role, and Weaver? Definitely.

ZOMBIELAND - marvellous film saw it Thursday afternoon.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY - not so marvellous - how it is No.1 in the US is beyond me. We saw it this afternoon (Saturday) very disapointed it was OK but nothing to write home about - apart from this of course! My brother who thinks himself a horror film expert said it was a close 2nd to The Blair Witch Project that says it all really that was hyped to within an inch of it's poor life.
