Gary, I agree American Psycho is excellent (read the book, too) and Bale is at his best but have you seen The Machinst? Brilliant film and Bale again is outstanding. He lost so much weight for that film (down to about 8 stone). This was why he was regarded as one of the best up and coming actors. And then he started taking acting lessons from a bear...........Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Or Tony the Tiger?  xwhis

I'll be watching the Machinist later this week as it happens - it's in my pile of DVDs to watch xtip

Watched it. Liked it but didn't love it. Bale was excellent though.

Oh, and why, Hudson, why? It's made for 12 year old girls. I've got no intention of EVER watching any of them unless I am whacked up on goofballs or held hostage against my will

I only ever made it through half the first one, when watching it with my daughters. No intention of finishing it, and I watch any crap. Hell I would even watch Napoleon Dynamite over that!!!

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

Why watch a film you know you'll hate?!? You wouldn't go and watch Charlton or Ebbsfleet of free will

Watched Paranormal Activity last night on BluRay. I was very impressed! Turn all the lights off and make sure the sound is up nice and high (if you have surround sound, get plenty of bass in your sub)!

The alternative ending was quite good as well but stick with the theatracle (damn spelling) version to watch first time round.

Watched Ninja Assassin the other night, brilliant blokes film. Small on plot, big on ass-kicking. Very enjoyable.

Saw A in W last night - not impressed at all. Saw it in 2D (because 3D is a massive ripoff). The film acted like a sequel, and it took most of Lewis Carroll's "Through the Looking Glass" rather than the original. Depp irritated me - he can play eccentric so well, yet this one felt forced. The "battle" scenes and the build up just made me think Lord of the Rings-very-very-lite.

Can't say I'm massively impressed.

Even the clips of Alice in Wonderland put me off.   Real shame that Tim Burton,  who made some truly brilliant and innovative films before he sold out, now seems just to be going through the remake motions for the cash and, irritatingly, seems hopelessly addicted to employing his missus regardless of whether she's right for the part or not. She has one exaggerated and suspiciously trippy face and turns in indulgent performances that are now just parodies of herself. Slightly amusing the first time she did it but now just a yawn. Even Johnny Depp must wonder if its time to stop answering the phone.

Wouldn't surprise me if Tim Burton makes a version of Ted Roger's 3-2-1 next as long as someone puts the cash up and Helena Bonham-Weirdo can be Dusty Bin.

Shan't be going to AiW and since I am a benchmark of all things good taste, It will therefore flop.  Edward Scissorhands or Ed Wood it aint.
