Saw Robin Hood last night - better than I expected, although still about 20 minutes too long, and Crowe's accent goes from very good to Scouse via Northern Irish at every opportunity. Mark Strong, at least, confirms himself as the latest go-to-guy as a rent-a-villain.
A really refreshing change to the way these films are normally told and was more like a prequel to the normal stories.
What was good I thought was they used real facts about "A" man that was a real life person. Peal back the myths and there are real documents that exist which report his crimes. The phrase "Robin Hood" was an old English slang word for a criminal which over the period of time was adapted from the word "Robehod" . He was only called Robin Hood once in the whole film when he called himself it when asked who he was when holding up the grain cart.
Another fact they got right was how King Richard (lion heart) was not this great British King as most films make out but the complete opposite who through out this reign was away on crusades bankrupting the country to fund his wars
