I am waiting for a night in on my own for 'In The Loop'.

I have high hopes.

Also about to re-visit Quadrophenia after seeing Jimmy at Bluewater last weekend.

Jimmy? No way! James Michael Cooper was a teenage hero to some of us back in the early 80's. I used to watch the video about once a month and we still bore each other senseless swapping quotes down the pub. I do hope you started up a chant of "We are the Mods! We are the Mods!" before tearing through John Lewis in persuit of some rockers  xbop

Finally got to see "In The Loop" on BBC2 t'other night ..... UTTER GENIUS. A film (of a show) that finally lays to rest the ghost of Yes Minister/Prime Minister. I'm a long time fan of Armando Iannucci and, once again, he delivers the goods. Brilliantly written, superbly acted and the best swearing by an actor (Peter Capaldi) that there has possibly ever been.

"Climbing the mountain of conflict"? You sounded like a Nazi Julie Andrews!"

 :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I shall look out for this. Iannucci rocks - the DIY mishap graveyard sketch from his eponymous show made me laugh fo days

DA MIKEY - If you can still find it I thoroughly recommend his "Facts & Fancies" spoken word recordings (I have the double cassette ... remember them!). 2 hours of comedy at it's superb, surreal best. ;D

Saw The Shouting Men this week. Low budget Brit film about a bunch of Gills fans on a road trip to Newcastle for a cup game. Worth seeing as we're Kent football fans, supporters, spectators (delete where appropriate) and makes a nice change from a football film that isn't about Danny Dyer givin it large.
Some funny moments.

must say, only just managed to catch avatar, and saw it in 3d.
nothing like the last experience of 3d, Jaws  :-D

Maybe the first over hyped film that actually lived up to it's promise, and absolutely made for 3d cinema

the shortest 2 hours 40 in my life, and if it wasn't for the highway robbery of a cinema ticket nowadays, would watch it again

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

I'm not averse to going to see a kids film, but I promise u I wouldn't have gone to see A in W  on my own   xshrug xshrug ...the only good thing is she's now 14 so at least the films she wants to see these days are in the main OK ...boy did I sit through some dross when she was younger !!!!!  (Spy Kids 3D was one of the the worse 90 mins of my life I can promise u   xgiggle xgiggle )

Will be interested to hear your opinion of A in W.

Will let you know JohnJ. I think nowadays films are made so well and with the special effects as they are it is only recently that the wife and I are going. There was a long period where we didn't go. And as in an earlier post of mine, we have an 11 year old Grandson who gives us an excuse.

Well JohnJ. I'm with you, having seen Alice it weren't a scratch on Avatar. Depp was good and I loved the March Hare but that was it. Special effects carries it along, but a bit disappointing.

Pleased to hear that xbop xbop xbop ...my Wife and Daughter really enjoyed A in W ...so I was wondering if it was just me being a miserable old bugger xgiggle...I never once glanced at my watch during Avatar and would happilly sit through it again and again, but found myself during A in W getting bored at various points.

Hoping my Daughters doesn't think she's too grown up  to go and see Toy Story 3 which comes out this summer xwhis xwhis xwhis
