Met Police v Dartford (Sat 18th July)
« on: July 15, 2009, 03:45:40 PM »

Match thread for Saturday's friendly - don't know how many of you are going, but it's a decent ground and should be a more relevant test for the lads xtip

It's also Dartford Festival Saturday. I assume the club will be having its usual marquee?

Yes we'll be there on Saturday and Sunday - so anyone else who doesn't go to the Met Police is welcome to come down and say hello. We are sharing with the Mick Jagger Centre and Beckett's so you can pick up your entry for the FREE competiontion with a prize worth £1500!!!

Normally it's some of the merchandise from the club shop along with all the various application forms etc etc.

Sounds familiar.
I finished up parking down the road outside the ground - a fair way down the road, but I doubt if it was more than a 1/4 of a mile.
And for the earlier arrivals/boozers, it should be that much easier.

I had an email from Gavin at Met Police this morning:

"Gary,
Hope you are well. Gary, I know it always seems to be the good people of Dartford but on past experience, who better.

I'll explain, Lee Gledhill is our right back and a local lad to Dartford, on Sunday he is completing the London to Brighton bike ride in aid of the Heart Foundation.

Tragically in a cruel twist of fate, Lee and his Partner lost their unborn baby earlier this week due to difficulties with the baby's heart.

Lee is understandably devastated but is still finding the strength to complete the bike ride which he was already completing prior to knowing about the complications. Lee is now even more determined which tells you a lot about his character.

In stead of a collection like Jack Brown Appeal, we will donate money from the entrance fee.  The entrance fee for tomorrow is £5 for Adults and £3 for Children. From that the Metropolitan Police Football club will donate £1 from every entrance fee to Lee's bike ride.

We all look forward to seeing you tomorrow and hope all is well at Dartford and if I don't speak to you, good luck for the season.

Gavin.     "

Hopefully we'll have a few Darts fans there to help him out :)

You can count on Trev B, Duke & myself to be there tomorrow. Its a sad time for the guy and im sure most if not all Darts fans will be willing to chip in, its a very good cause and a charity the club fully support.
