why didn't Taity play instead of burns? How can he be expected to get match fit if he doesn't play?I am not questioning Tony as he knows a hundred times more than I ever will.I'm just asking the more tactically astute among us to explain in simple terms so that I can better understand what i am looking at. :-)

I don't think tait was ever going to do the full time and was always going to come on and if we was't behind he would have come on before burchill'

Because he's not match fit.  You get a player fit by bringing him on and using the reserve matches.  Can't jeopardise the chances of a first team win by only having 10 match fit players playing in my opinion.

Tait looks quality, he's got a lot to offer us, but not from the start right now.

Hence the reason why he was still running round the pitch with Kess and AN Other after the rest of the squad had left the pitch...

Bruce (Tait)gave Burchill an earfull when he went for the shot and did not pass, nice to see that he cares.

Hope to see him match fit soon, still not sure about our midfield tho, just did not seem to function for large parts of the game

Going to forget about the first half (as long as lessons are learned) and just say how delighted  i am with the 3 points. We have real quality at the club and it reared its head in the second half, Ryan not on song on comes Burchill who created merry hell with his first touch! Burns did well showing real strength to set up a goal and Bradbrook just went into overdrive to outclass their 4 to win the pen.

Thought the ref was again the centre of the universe and annoyed everyone present!

A win is a win and we must go to Margit full of confidence with the best squad of players DFC has had for 20 years.

Forget Tait till he is 100% otherwise the moany brigade will have a field day saying how slow and in-effective he is!

So on that basis I make it we are fifth on goal diff/goals scored. Not bad for starters, I suppose - and it could  have been even worse in the first half: we never looked like scoring and a 0-1 HT scoreline frankly flattered us. I don't know what TB said at half-time, but it certainly worked; it wasn't down to team changes, because we were 3-1 ahead, I think, before any of our subs came on. The lads just seemed to believe in themselves more. I wonder if the first half was just a combination of "first-night nerves" under the weight of expectations and Horsham's determination to storm "fortress PP".

I see Margate got thrashed 4-0 at Sutton. Let's hope they carry on where they left off on Tuesday!

Don't think ryno was very happy at being pulled off because he was going down the tunnel and TB ordered him back in no uncertain terms.

i think its pretty fair to say that the vast majority of the fans didnt expect to see lee burns playing up front with rob haworth but presumably TB didnt want to chuck burchell in at the deep end or risk taits fitness but despite burns 100% effort and no service to him or rob we looked pretty ineffectual in the 1st half

great run by burns with cross to bradbrook for 1st goal , burchell looked the part when he came on and made a goal for bradbrook and in between bradbrook got brought down for flanners to cooly score the penalty , tait came on for last 10 minutes and had time to show his class with touch and movement including a death stare to burchell when he didnt cross and clever time wasting near the corner flag - when this guy gets fit he will delight darts fans  !!!!!!!!

several below par performances today with ryno being off the boil and justifiably being substituted although obviously disappointed a wave to the fans wouldnt have gone amiss !!!!!!!!!!

i said before the game that a " scruffy 1-0 win and 3pts "  would do me as a starter , so OK ,  I got a scruffy 3-2 and 3pts , I will live with it

so you lot are off the margate [ on tuesday ] and i'm off to majorca and i will be watching via the internet with interest

Perhaps I was watching another match, but to me it seemed that Ryan was left out of the gamre. There were a number af times during the second half he was free on the right, but the ball was played down the middle. Yes it resulted in a goal after Ryan went off. but I got the sense that he was being isolated. Perhaps there were some first day nerves, but I feel we should have been more positive, as happened when Adam & Lee came on.

I cannot see the point of playing probably the most inventive and exiting player we have and then not giving him the ball.

i agree with daveh we did not play the ball wide at all in the first half which isolated our only true winger in the starting 11.our method of play was to pump the ball up to the big man but we did it so early he was so isolated the knockdowns were a waste of time.our first half performance was garbage to say the least.this could be down to nerves and new players settling in and of course back to 4 at the back instead of 5.
the second half was a different story with ball to feet, wing play and retention of the ball.this was made easier by horsham giving the ball back to us as they decided to stay deep and boot the ball up or off which gave us easy possession.
i was really pleased with the new boys, the right back was superb , bradbrook was class and burns was my motm with his effort and bravery.burchill looked classy and lively and tait looked a "nasty winner",cant wait to see him again ,i reckon his desperate dan chin is gonna scare some defenders this season.
i have to say someting about white and its that his one touch passing that spreads the play from the middle to the flanks is a joy to watch,it makes me happy anyway

the main thing as i see it is that we now have competion in every position and if tony can keep this squad at PP all season and keep them all happy the result will be happiness on the terraces because we will take some stopping
