I stood behind the goal for the first time this season with my daughter and i was glad she decided to walk round the ground with her friend. In the second half IMO some of the abuse was over the top and the way some supporters treated their ground (stand and advertising boards) was unnecessary. It may well put DFC in a bad light. Just imagine if away supporters treated PP the same way, we would not be too happy. I did see (number 15 i believe) squirting the water bottle into the crowd at a corner and really he should know better, but as far as the keeper taking a dive and trying to influenece the ref the reaction to him and abuse was over the top. If their players want to conduct themselves in that manner let them. If you are winning the game generally a gentle reminder of the score will do the trick. I shudder to think how some will react if we are losing and not top of the table.
Some may think this is overshadowing a good performance but i don't agree, we really need to make sure we behave at away grounds in the same manner we would expect others to do so at PP.
Generally the support was very good but we all have a duty to ensure that just one or two don't spoil it.
I couldn't agree more. I was quite embarrassed by the (clearly alcohol fuelled) language and behaviour of a few Darts fans behind the goal in the second half, and I chose to go and stand elsewhere. Hastings could be forgiven for having a pretty bad impression of our supporters.
I spoke with one of the stewards who had been given some "banter" after politely asking people not to abuse the hoardings and the walls of the stand, and whilst he was polite in his response to me, it was clear that he wasn't at all impressed with the behaviour of a number of our fans.
Very disappointing, and I think it took the gloss off of what was an excellent performance on the pitch.
