darts u21 into the kent league ??????
« on: August 06, 2009, 08:36:01 AM »

it appears from [ quickly] reading the kentishfootball site that welling RESERVES have been renamed CORINTHIANS and elected into the kent league  who are desperate for clubs especially after slade green called it a day

so IF welling can do it WHY  cannot the darts U21 be called .................  and go in same league so as our lads can play at a decent level   !!!!!!!

sounds like a precadent has been set ??????????????

How’s about Dartfordians?

To have a reserves team at that level can only benefit our first team and strengthen the club’s standing in the longer term. I will be keeping a close eye on this chapter. I suppose the only down turn could be that our reserves would have to play all it’s league matches on the main pitch.

If they have called their ressies a different name then surely it would have to be registerd as a different club wouldnt it??? Isnt there a rule on the amount of duel registerd players you can have at a club.

Many clubs abroad especially in Europe have their reserves playing in normal leagues for instance, Real Madrid's reserve team play in the Spanish Third Division and Hamburg's reserves in the German fourth - however there's a rule stating that there must be a gap of 2 leagues (more in some countries) between the main team and the reserve team.

I'm surprised Welling are being allowed to call themselves Corinthians. What about the Billings team of that name from out Fawkham way? Or have they folded? Or is the Welling team actually going to be called Wellling Corinthians?

The trouble is there is no such gap between first team and reserves as far as Dartford are concerned unless supporters think otherwise.

i just think that many talented lads will never make the grade by playing in the u21 league as the standard is way to low for great performances to automatically get into the RLP team [ or higher] so all that happens is they sit on the bench , eventually get p.....d off and leave - what a waste of everybodies time and possible darts loss of local [ quality ] talent

our u21s need to be playing minimum kent league [ eg vs teams like hythe e and b etc] and welling have shown us how to do it !!!!!!!!

IF for whatever reason we dont want to do it then get the really promising lads loaned out for the season to RL1 clubs [ chatham the brickies etc] so as to get some real football - it does work as our academy lad,  colin richmond was a regular in the brickies team last season , try telling him he would have been better playing in the u21 league , same should also apply to daren ibriaham

time to get real ????????????????

On the Welling forum it's states that their reserves will still be playing at Corinthians in the Suburban League. Corinthians were looking to reform in the Kent League next season, but with the demise of Slade Green and by taking over the place of Welling Res in the second division through the name change, they have been able to fastrack straight into the first division.

I am told that last year Corinthian were in effect playing as "Corinthian" but were actually Welling's U21 side with a few of the better players from Corithians U18'S, thisyear the set up we are led to believe is different, Welling will be playing thier reserve team in the suburban league at Corinthian....... and Corinthian will be a "new" stand alone senior club playing in the KPL.

As for the Darts U.21's playing in the KPL most unlikely unless there is a massive change of heart by the KPL rules ..... or  Henno takes his team on masse to Slade Green and is manger of Slade Green FC for seson 2010/11 who happen to have a very close link to DFC ! ! ! !

The U21's should be in the Suburban league along side Welling, and get into the SL Prem !  or try to get into the South East Counties league - with the like of Lewes, Aldershot, Brighton, Gills, Millwall in a few seasons time !

Anyone know when it all kick off for our team :?

http://www.kentleague.com/competitions/fixtures/fixtures2.html

Whether I'll amend www.dfc21.co.uk for the new season depends what the new all singing all dancing official website will be doing when it comes online in the next 2 days. If they will cover the U21's, then I'll leave it, if not I'll carry on as per usual. The DFC U18's are now the Academy side as far as I can tell, so www.dfc18.co.uk is now redundant. I'll leave it there for historic purposes.

You are all pretty much correct. If you cast your minds back a couple of sesasons to when our youth & u21's recruited a number of ex corinthians players......Bonz Billings was renting his back pitch for Andy Ford's 1st team to train. After which his reserves side began to play their home fixtures on Corinthians main pitch. The u18 Corinthian side also played at Gay Dawn. It was decided that Welling reserves would become the 'feeder' side for good youngsters coming through. Thus eventually, the Welling reserve/u21 side ( we beat comfortably) last season comprised some of each. So what you actually have now is a form of groundshare for 2 sides.
Pretty good business when you weigh it up. Fantastic facilities. Excellent Management. Unfortunately, the side simply are nowhere near good enough to compete at that level. Whereas, we most certainly are. And with Henno & Steve at the helm, playing the likes of crouchy & derren, who knows what could have been this year?

John, I am not sure we could call ourselves Dartfordians, especially as the rugby union club based in Bexley already go by that name.
