Now we know why the form dipped just lately!!! All these silly home games! Clearly what the team responds to is a change of surroundings, poorer stadium and just the hardcore faithfull, which makes it clear we're shooting ourselves in the foot encouraging the faint hearted to travel. Send 'em down to bluewater I say, and while we're about it , lets dismantle one of the rooves at PP and see if the players respond to a more dilapidated look. Ah well. 5-2 is better than I dared dream of before the start (or even half time) so thanks to Gary for the updates, and while we're waiting for reports from the faithfull, anyone fance putting the league table up on here, and we can sit around and gloat properly.
i think this could be very nearer the truth than we suspect. If you look at the forums of teams that we have played at PP recently, Bognor, Hornchurch and Cray fans all say the same thing i.e. this was our best performance of the season. lets be honest, playing at PP in front of 1000 + fans is most of the oppos cup finals. The unrealistic high expectations of some of our new fairweather fans (You know who you are), must be picked up by the players, they're only human. This makes them nervous to try to much adventurous stuff. This, coupled with the negative tactics employed by most visiting teams, make the opposition quite hard to break down, this is shown to be very different when we travel away, when the oppos, are obliged to be a bit more open. This is proved by our outstanding 100% away record. Dunno if we can do much about the home games as yet, but if we keep winning all the away games, we will be Ok.
