early start today as away on an exhibition stand for next two delays ,  just to say really good posts from rambo [2]  , who I often dont agree with and trevB ,  who often I do agree with but today I agree with both but it just highlights the fact that even with a big squad we are considering playing our top striker [ burns] and beales  in midfield cause our current midfield is not good enough

i note that rambo protagee' has so far got 2 votes it will spoil my opinion of [ my pal !!] rambo IF he is one of them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so a rest from me for 2 days but like ALL darts fans I desperately want us to do well but I dont have a pair of rose coloured specs !!!!!!!!

well had time to reflect and i know ryno didnt have a great game tuesday along with a few others, but without him we dont create anything, lee noble has got to start and get a run of games he is our best midfielder by a mile, bradders was great yesterday, that for me is our midfield pairing, lee and bradders, fair play to sutton they done a job on us yesterday with a lot of help from the officials, not going to bang on about jamie day ,i new how good he was and sorry to see him go complete midfielder ! ! But i think this darts team will show its metal now like all good teams and bnunce back at tonbridge, still having a great season just a bad week i think.. Up the darts

For the first time this season I am unable to vote for a Man of the Match because I can't think of anyone worthy of the award.

We were totally inept for much of the game, especially in the one-sided first half when we could not get out of our own half.

We all know that our problem is a total lack of midfield, it seems that in all our home games we are completetly dominated by quicker, more hungry  opponents.

Tony has got some important decisions to make.  He must now decide on his best team and stick with it (barring injuries of course) until the end of the season.

Lee Noble must start every game, purely for his speed and energy. What about Ryno ?  He can be brilliant one week and awful the next, but he is a matchwinner and without him it is difficult to see where the next goal is coming from.

I'm not going to pick my best team as we all have our own opinions and the decision of course lies with Tony.

Our lead is now only 7 points and games in hand are useless if we play like that again. I hope we can recover and I think we will, but something must be done to liven up our midfield or we will be caught.

Not much to say about this match except that I think my one time player of the season, Danny Dafter and White  just aren't good enough at this level. We have a midfield that is slower than a snail in superglue. The only time the midfield looked any good was when Bradbrooke & then Noble were in there. I'm sure nobody can deny the value of Jamie Day now!

I was really disappointed after the game yesterday not only with the result but our overall performance and after the Billericay game the end of not a great week for the Darts. I also agree with other comments that so far probably the lowest part of the season, but Sutton were a far improved side from our earlier meeting this season where we ran out comfortable winners and if we do go up next season we must expect to be confronted with much of the same agression from the sides playing in the BSq league.
Looking back on a the game yesterday we did not play our best at all and as we all witnessed there are issues to be resolved in the centre of midfield, however, we did still have at least two or three clear chances ( Burns one on one, EB's Chance after HT, Rook header after he just came on ) when we could have scored and possibly nicked a point ???
We need to be far more clinical in front of goal when we have these opportunities to score even more so when the games not going our way (ref was apalling), also we need to get tougher and against some of these bully boy teams who have clearly have done their homework on us and get in our faces.
Huge game next week so come on lads lets get down there make some noise and make up that extra man in midfield defence and attack attack attack !!!
Feeling a bit down now  :-( but ALWAYS remember guys WE ARE DARTFORD  !!!

I commented to a friend that against Sutton I would have been tempted  to start with Hayes, and some guy close by butted in and said ' you should have seen him Tuesday, he was crap'. Ok, so he was crap, but I felt we needed a wing man. Bradbrook tried at being everywhere, but to me he's no wing man, he needs to be given free reign. We just didn't get at them at all.
I wish I could get to all matches,I don't care how crap we are, but it's not possible. But the only time we livened up was when Rook and Hayes took to the field, no detrement to Haworth and Harris. We were awful. Ok, Ryan has been bad for a while, in fact I agree with the guy who butted in on my conversation, but he worried them when he came on. For once I have to disagree with TB's starting 11.
And wouldn't you think that we could sort out our dire defending, what the Royal F*ck was Coyle, Youngie and Billy boy playing at for that 2nd goal? Sunday football.
We still have the advantage with games and points, but we need to sort out this terrible dilemma that the team are slowly sinking into. I have a worry that it's not Wealdstone we have to look over our shoulder at but Dowson's Kingstonian. Form boys and we still have to go there to their place. Lets hope their not 3 points behind with no games in hand, cos at the moment I know where my money would go.
I'm sure that this is a temporary blip and that TB will sort it. But he want's to hurry up, cos the pressure is getting to everyone, and if the team think that the crowd are on their back, it will only get worse.

Tony can't do right for doing wrong - everyone was calling for Ryno to be dropped,  then he is - and we don't win because of poor team selection  xshrug
My opinion is that we lost as result of a blinding performance by Sutton. Give 'em their dues people - have we seen a better performance against us in the league this season? Their #10 was still sprinting at 88 mins, in midfield they were competent and strong (#7 quite effective in particular) and at the back they made few errors and were solid. I have to disagree with Dukey about #5 - thought he had a great game and was certainly unbeatable in the air.
Don't get me wrong - we helped them out with some serious errors in defense and by not turning up in midfield, but I genuinely feel that Sutton could've turned over BSS opposition yesterday.

We must put Noble and Burns in midfield against Tonbridge next weekend. Definitely didn't think I'd be saying that a week ago.

Edit: theace is right about our chances. Had Burns put away his one on one (which earlier in the season he would've, no question), the outcome may well have been in our favour. Ryno was unlucky with his two blistering shots, with which the keeper dealt superbly.

Oh, by the way, as I was about to send my report to the NLP yesterday, my computer crashed on deadline time. Panic ensued and I had to dictate over the phone from my notes. Which was a mish-mash of scribbles.
So, if you read the paper and you think it's codswallop I'm sorry. I have yet to go to the shops.

The whole squad and management need to sit down and sort this out, the season starts at Tonbridge for me, the slate wiped clean, players need to get out of second gear and find the determination again, if need be make tough decisions but we need to re - focus and above all believe.

We lack cohesion and direction at the mo and we have been poor for 2 months more or less, its all about the midfield, JW yes changes need to be made.

Agree with DA Mikey. We do have to give Sutton credit. They came with a plan, out-thought us, out-passed us and were better at shooting on the day. Unfortunately they made our defence look rather ordinary.

Someone said about a decision to drop Ryan "Be careful what you wish for". Well, we started with a functional line-up, somewhat lacking in creativity that seemed to be designed to do battle with Sutton.

This season is still so much in our hands. We simply must not lose our nerve. If the Canvey away type performances are more of a rarity, let's at least get back to the Cray away type performances where we pick up some points. We can do this.

i am sure our problems are of our own making.when the season started we had a clear plan,we had two central midfielders with two wide men and two forwards.the game was spread and players could run with the ball.
we now have everybody playing in midfield with the central midfielders blamed for every ill in the game.how can you give and go when everyone is under your feet.maybe we have scholes and fabregas in centre mid.
we have hayes, carlos ,burchell, bradbrook and noble ( although i still maintan i would like to see noble and white in centre mid) all who can do a job out wide and we rarely see two of these left and right at the same time.
i can see that the choice of team selection is intended to be safe by picking hard workers who can tuck in hence keeping what you have, but bloody hell we are in a position every other team in this division would kill for.we should not be scared of the opposition they should be scared of us.
lets get back to keeping hayes and bradbrook on the wings and spreading the play.even playing wide these two will score at least one between them every other game.

Could be a massive game for us saturday with Kingstonian playing tuesday evening. If they get a result against Harrow our lead will be reduced to 4 points by the weekend.
Fortunately Tonbridge appear to be going through a dodgy patch themselves at the moment though they will be desperate to climb out of the relegation zone. Who would have thought at the start of the season they'd be in the bottom four by february?
Not sure if I agree with the gentlemen's agreement concerning Rookie but on the plus side, by signing him early, he won't be lining up against us now. xfinger

When they took Pouton off, who I thought was ruling midfield, it was early 2nd half. Whether it was because he was injured by Whitie in the clash just before half time I don't know. But they replaced him with McKimm who just sat in front of their defence, bloody obvious their intentions, they were quite happy with 1-0. But then they had the idea that they could score again, which towards the end had plenty of opportunities to do so.
As for Ryan starting the match, I felt he should have done. Only my thoughts.
