Tonbridge v Dartford 13th Feb 2010

Does anyone know if Carl Rook will be available for this one? I've heard there has been a "gentlemens agreement" that he won't be playing against his former club.

Heard in the bar he will not be playing, part of the agreement when he left them!

Tonbride players Scott Gooding (Captain) and Tom Bryant (forward) were both sretchered off today against Bognor so I dare say they may be doubtful for the game against us.

If Rook isn't playing will Tonbridge be paying his weeks wages?? Don't see why this agreement was reached as a/ Tonbridge wanted to offload his wages to ease their plight and b/ Rook wanted to join us (hear he turned down better offer at Farnborough). We are Ryman Premier not Premier League after all?!??!?

Rook looked good today although will take a while to get used to seeing him in black & white rather than all blue!

Well decent local derby and I for one will look for a better central midfield combination:- If Rook cant play I guess Burns and Haworth up top with Hayes, Noble,Bradbrook & Harris across the middle if available perhaps???!

until we get the  [ extra ] class midfielder we crave then CENTRE midfield has to be noble and bradbrook who are both at least creative , bit hard on daffy ,[ no comment on bambi ?? ] ,  its a tough old world !!!!!!!!!

harris should be in the team at wide left , switching tactically throughout the game with ryno - wishful thinking ?????

interesting that mark stimson on radio kent criticised his back 4 for passing back to the keeper in dodgy pitch conditions which is paramount to copping out , now theres a thought ????????/

think the " no play rook at tonbridge "  is OTT , understand IF he was on loan but we paid money for him  , so we should have told tonbridge to get stuffed , cant  really believe that would have stopped him joining us , ethics I am all for but as for shooting ourselves in the foot ,  well ???

If recent performances are anything to go by then I would say that there are a few places up for grabs. Although we have been poor in the centre of the pitch we have also been lacking in the defending and attacking departments too. Even more disappointing is the late or even wrong substitutions. I still can’t understand why Harris was taken off. Here we have a player who is more than capable of filling in Jamie Day’s role with added flair.

I’m expecting us to bounce back in this game as long as we ditch one of the holding midfielders and if things are still not working out to either play 3 at the back and match the oppositions 5 man midfield or just go for an attacking 4-4-2 (no holding players).

One thing is for certain; this is the most important game season to date and everyone should really make an effort in turning up in large numbers to Longmead. The 12th man could be the deciding factor!

                  Young

  ?*?       Beales        Flan       Gross

Ryno    ?*?      Bradbrook       Harris

              Burns     ?*?

Mine weren't quite the same but maybe that was because the whole team was generally poor. I thought there were a number of chances he should have done a lot better with and at times looked like he couldn't be bothered.

yeah he is rubbish that Rook isnt he...look at his record at least 1 in 2 wherever he has been! 60 odd in 80 games at Tonbridge really poor rate that!

A number of chances!?!??!?????!? we only created 3 in the whole match!!!!!! He maybe could have done better with his header at the end but that still would have been a great header had it gone in!

Give the bloke a chance for gods sake!!!

I know. I'm not hammering him , I'm just saying what I felt at the time. And my opinion was probably clouded by the dissappointing performance of the team.
In hindsight, I can see that my feelings about his performance were probably an overreaction and of course I'm sure we'll see what he's really about once he's had a few games and once the team has picked up.
Also, nowhere in my post did I say he was rubbish or a crap player.

Funnily enough I thought the complete opposite.

His movement in and around the box was excellent. Keep your eye on him at corners and when crosses are just about to come in he just tip toes about looking for space or that extra yard!

What surprised me was his link up play or him coming back to try to link the play up especially once Ryno came on. I thought he was a 6 yard box sniffer or poacher but I reckon he is better than that! he looked VERY VERY bothered especially when that ball was in and around the box!!

I appreciate you didnt call him crap RikyB but it was a bit of a hammering none the less especially as it was based on 25mins when he wasnt 100% fit and the team were having a collective shocker!!

Saying he could have done a bit better with chances and could have looked more lively isn't a hammering or at least I didn't intend it to be. Nevertheless, I appreciate all of the things that you have said he did well and all of he things that looked promising and you are right , his record doesn't lie. He has a great record and i am sure that will show through soon. My original post was not to hammer or criticise him but to oppose the view of the Duke who said his first impressions of Rook were "good" , which  I still disagree with but alas ones view and general perception of the game can be distorted when standing behind that goal!
Perhaps i should have worded my post better  xshrug
And i will have to look out for his movement during corners from now on!

we need to win a game quickly by passing the ball to feet, by keeping width,by keeping the ball on the field and not booting it over the stands and powering headers off the pitch for throw ins to them, and by ceasing the practise of acommadating players

                                                                                young

rook if fit,if not burns         harris

i am sure this is a team you will agree with duke
