I don't want to see any club go out of existance, but  we have been there and survived for about 13/14 years after reforming , until the council built us PP.

I honestly believe that Maidstone progressed to quickly, but I do hope that they come through their present problems and we can resume the battlen of yesteryear one day .I think that we were fortunate to get  PP but we did rebuild our club and are now building a team,I'm afraid to say that to me Maidstone have tried to do it the other way round.

Don't forget Maidstone had a bloody good side though with at least 5/6 players that went on to play a higher level than the old Div 4. Mark Beeney, Mark Gall, Steve Butler, Warren Barton etc etc. What really cocked up their plans was not having a ground of their own in or around Maidstone....still at least the people of Maidstone had, what was it, a new B&Q to look around instead!!??!!

Had they gone up the year they lost to Cambridge in the play offs at Watling Street (Dion Dublin et al) then who knows where they could be now....actually maybe they would be roughly where Cambridge are which is just above the relegation zone in conference national admittedly with games in hand.

Anywhere has got to be better than Ashford and I for one hope they get their ground in Maidstone sorted (cant see it happening now anytime soon) because Kent football is poorly represented in the pyramid and we need more Kent teams pushing in the right direction.......Ebbsfleet United/Gravesend & Northfleet aside naturally!! :-)

I think it was MFI that bought their old ground and built a new store on it, look whats happend to MFI. Also its now been confirmed that Maidstone wont get a single penny from the sale of their ex player from Fulham to Man Utd. PBB asked Fulham for a small amount as a good will gesture / compensation and Fulham told them where to go as there was no sell on clause agreed only payments based on games played.

Don't know where you got this from but this is completely inaccurate.  The reason Chris Smalling was not on contract with Maidstone was because he had asked when he joined the club that he'd like to play for the England Schoolboys if the opportunity arose, which of course it did.  To do this however he could not be on a contract with any club.  When he consequently moved to Fulham, although there was no contract, it was agreed with Fulham that they pay Maidstone £10,000 as a goodwill gesture, negotiations possibly being helped due to Roy Hodgeson formally having links with Maidstone.  It was also agreed that for every 10 games Smalling played for Fulham, an additional £10,000 would be paid to the Stones.

According to the sports report on Radio Kent yesterday (i think it was) Fulham have refused to pay any money which was supposedly asked for as a good will gesture from the Maidstone Chairman after Fulham sold the guy to Man Utd as no transfer fee was agreed in anyway when he moved from Maidstone to Fulham. The only money Maidstone would get was based on 1st team appearances only. Fulham supposedly sore Chris Smalling as a rough diamond when they picked him up from Maidstone and it was they who brought his game on to warrant the interest from Manchester Utd and so they said NO to any kind of good will gesture.

That is where i got the info from and they who basically said the above, whether it be right or wrong only Radio Kent can say  xshrug.
