We lost it totally when William Webb Ellis picked the ball up and ran with it (and Maradonna bundled it over the line!) xwhis

I was never happy at school. This one time the headmaster called me into his office. I was terrified. My friend jimmy went to his office and he could'nt sit down for a week, so I'm thinking please, please don't let him find me sexually attractive.

Having watched Sony's video highlights, I am very sorry to say that I have to agree with the otherwise useless lino on the disallowed goal. From the replay from the camera behind the goal, it is clear that Billy B was in an offside position when the goal attempt went in, but as he was inactive, that was OK. However, as soon as the ball bounced back of the keeper and he tucked it in, he became active - and therefore under the new interpretation of the rules, the goal had to be ruled out. Crying shame, but there it is.

Sorry I don't agree, it might be my old eyes, but when the ball is played Billy runs from an onside positon and keeps on running past the defender, the keeper plays the ball out and he side foots it home.

Mind you I had to watch it three times and can understand if the lino did get it wrong.

Dear Mr Burman,

I was wondering if you have noticed, as I have, that the awarding of a corner presents the recipient of said award with an excellent opportunity to score a goal (unarguably the main objective of the sport). In the interests of improving the possibility of DFC scoring on these occasions may I suggest that, during training sessions, you perhaps request that players practice the execution of this very important deadball delivery. Either that or possibly select someone to take the corner kick who can actually manage to get the ball beyond the 1st defender. I would have hoped that after the 5th or 6th time of this happening you might have considered this revolutionary course of action. Obviously not.

Just a thought

Sincerely, KP.

I couldn't agree more!   Maybe he's been watching Nani At Man Utd???    :-(

we played rubbish that game but should have drawn it because the disallowed goal we scored was never offside! xshrug

Sorry Trevor B, but I still hold to my view - and I've watched it three times too - Billy B is definitely onside when the cross comes in, but I'm still convinced he is in an offside position by the time the ball is flicked goalwards five yards out, inactive, but active as soon as he pounces on the rebound.

If Ronaldo says it correct it as to be xwhis

Yes I agree having watched it again, I originally thought that the B.W. defender played the ball on as a deflection, but can now see it was a Darts players flick.

Thankyou

.... although judging by his performance the rest of the evening, even if it HAD been a BW defender deflection, he would probably still have flagged anyway!

I think Billy was probably offside as the free kick was taken, but he was definitely off when it was flicked on by Elliot
