Ugh. Margit win at PP again....... Agree with DK, thought we could only throw the game away in the first half - apart from their late shot over the bar at the end of the first, they never gave us too much to worry about. Anyone watching from behind the goal must agree that they looked very poor individually at the back but seemed to get away with it. Ok, we didn't trouble their keeper enough, but there were a few humdingers from Gross which were blocked and several threatening crosses which on the night got bundled out, but on another day may well have found the net 3/4 times.

Good to see Allan pull off some great moves, moments of seriously good control, invention and in the 1st half where he took the ball down, turned two players and sprayed the ball wide to AG was probably pass of the match. DD performed well again, unfortuately he must shoulder the blame for Margit's goal, but other than that we still looked pretty good at the back with Flan anchoring the line. Maybe with a more on-song performance by Elliot and Burnsie fully fit the scoreline would've been reversed. Hope Burns is ok, he looked to be struggling quite a bit.

Hastings will be confident after this result tonight, the boys must roll up their sleeves and find the winning formula come Saturday.

i lke to tell it as it s otherwise whats the point. we were very poor and once again the defence completely ignored the midfield so tthe midfield had to scratch around for loose balls, but when they got the ball they had no idea where to put it.it NEVER went to feet, each time the ball was lobbed forward about 20 yards into space for burns or tait to run onto so in effect every pass from our midfield was a 40/60 against us.
tait and burns wanted to stand on the same blade of grass all night.sorry they are to similar, variation is needed up front.as for rook, sorry i just dont buy it,i dont understand what he is meant to do and how on earth he has a good record elsewhere is beyond me.
gross had a reasonble game as did flanagan,as for the rest of the team very very poor.
we have to look at what we did right in the first half of the season and somehow do it again.i just cannot believe how we are expected to win a game when the defence is just not interested or able to pass the ball to the midfield and the midfield do not know the meaning of the phrase pass and move preferring the lob and stand still or drill it at the midriff and stand still.oh well ,i am confident we will win the league but what a load of work tony has to do
thats me done for two weeks, off to cyprus for two weeks and gutted to miss the waltham abbey game.hopefully by the time i am back it will be done and dusted and we cabn enjoy the last 3/4 games of the season

Disappointing result, probably down to fatigue. Not many shots on goal and it was frustrating to see us trying to walk the ball into the goal as Margate literally packed the box every time there was an attack.

Talking of the "best team in the league" there has been a certain gentleman who has been in attendendance at some of our matches recently.
He usually wears a lumerbjack shirt and a West Ham United baseball cap upon his head. He used to play for Sutton United, Stevenage and Biggleswade. He is now in his late fifties and goes by the name of Frank.
He wasn't present at either of the Maidstone encounters and failed to make the trip to Horsham. However, he was at Princess Park for the Sutton match which we lost 2-0.  He also went to Tooting & Mitcham where we went down 3-1 and went to PP last tuesday to witness the 2-1 defeat to Boreham Wood.
Tonight he has threatened to visit Princes Park again.
I have refused to give in to his financial demands to stay away.
This man is a jinx who could well be in the employ of a certain clandestine organsation based in Surrey.
If he is spotted anywhere inside the ground then please inform the nearsest steward immediately so that he can be escorted off the premises.
Hopefully the turnstile operators will be on high alert tonight. xfinger xfinger xfinger
And Frank was there xwhis

What a thoroughly depressing game - and not just because we lost the match. I don't think I have ever enjoyed a match less. I know the 'Gate are bottom of the league and desperate for every point they can get, but their tactics tonight killed the game stone dead as a spectacle: nine men behind the ball all the time and hoof it upfield at every opportunity in the hope of hitting a player up-front.

It was all the more galling, therefore, that they should score as a direct result of a mistake from Daffy: having had umpteen opportunities to pass the ball, he slips on his bum, allowing one of only two men up to slip the ball through to the other for an unopposed run on goal. I don't think the guy was offside - in an offside position when he received the ball, but not when it was passed.

Am I right in thinking we had 4 good penalty shouts turned down? One in the first half when Taity was bundled over and 3 big shouts for foul/handball in the second? Not a good night for the ref or stand-side lino.

But even so, as has already been noted, we didn't play at all well. The PP hoodoo strikes again.

Who ate all the bananas?

I thought yesterday's performance was terrible. We never looked like scoring anywhere through that match.

+ Lol @ the kid who kicked the ball which rebounded off the roof.

They say the league doesn't lie. Well we are still top of the league, but to a certain extent we are there due to the fact that other teams also seem unable to get a run going and put us under any real pressure.

No.

We are top of the league because we have played very well and won many games on many more occasions than all the other teams in the league.

You don't have to win them all, that is what a league is.

It's not only Dartford that have had a fixture back log. The only difference between our player's work load and most other teams was the Thursday match against Horsham, and i would have thought they trained a bit less to compensate for that. We went into this match on the back of two good wins that steadied the ship, and then lost to the team that were bottom of the league. Thems, as they say, is the facts. We now go into a tricky home match with Hastings, followed by two away games. I just wonder how long we can depend on our away form.
Since Boxing Day we have drawn at home to Cray and Carshalton; and beaten Ashford and Maidstone. We have lost to Sutton, Billericay, Boreham Wood and Margate. W2 D2 and L 4. This is obviously not all down to tiredness. On current form we have to win this league to go up, because i don't fancy out chances in the play offs. I think we will win this league, but only because of our results in the first half of the season. So that brings me on to my real concern........next season. Our squad on paper look really good, but unfortunately we play on grass. I wonder how much of this squad could survive in a higher league ?

Absolutely agree with Rambo's post we need to return to a pass and move game and keep the ball on the deck.

Have read a few posts but I am not going to criticise today it was clear that some players (from both teams) were running on empty and 0-0 would have been the right result...1 defensive lapse and we lose the point that our overall efforts deserved.

Clearly this was a game too far for us after a busy week last week!

Fair play to Margate who are scrapping for their lives and look to have plenty enough in my opinion to stay up!

Lads needs to put their feet up and get ready for Saturday and hopefully a better all round display!

Lets be realistic, the games over the past weeks have started to catch up with us and while we all hate losing I honestly feel that the players put the effort in last night but lacked a bit of creativity and the lucky break or two that change a game. Don't forget that every side we play seems to be aiming for the play offs or fighting relegation!!  Confidence is a wonderful thing and explains why teams get into winning or losing streaks - at the moment every defeat is treated like the end of the world by a growing number on the terraces and we all need to take a look at where we are. Feel free to come back with the "I told you so" comments at the end of the year if we don't go up as champions but I would happily take our current position rather than that of Sutton or Kingstonian. Constructive comments/opinions after the game are fair and I take a firm view that players who are paid to play have to accept that fans have a right to comment - thats what a forum is for!

As for some of the comments shouted out last night? - They included highlights like - "Daffy your sh*t at this level" - Is that the same Danny Dafter that has been man of the match for the last few games? "Tony Burman needs to go" - Get real - Top of the league with games in hand!! Make these comments to your mates but don't shout them at players/TB it doesn't help. Chanting for players on the bench - How does that inspire the starting eleven? A lack of songs supporting our team but loads aimed at Margate players/fans?  The ironic part is the same people will be celebrating wildly and saying how wonderful everyone is when we win the league!

I do wonder what sort of delight some of our "fans" will provide us with next year when we are in a higher division and face a battle for points!

I prefer away games as there is less negativity and more support for the team.

Final word - Ref poor and one or two decisions that should have been given could/would have transformed the game. One penalty incident in the second half was blatent and if it's awarded and we score then peoples outlook is different. The ref from last night is at our level because he is not good enough to use higher up the pyramid or like players he simply had a bad game.

From the highs of Saturday to the lows of last night.

I cannot really add much more then has already been said but I feel that even if we had played all night, we still would not have scored. Fair play to Margate, who had a limited game plan but stuck to it manfully.

We are still top and both Kingstonian and Sutton would love to be in our position despite our current run of home form.

We all knew that a heavy fixture list was coming up.
Nowdays it is more of a SQUAD game than years ago.
So why not play fresher players (i.e Rook and Haworth upfront from the start) rather than starting with the same players ?
Clearley the team is playing nowhere near the standard of early season,so it is now the case of grinding out results to reach the finish line (sooner rather than later as my nerves can not stand many more results like last night !!).
