Hello again   While I was away the team only had one match, this was away to the Wellome All where they lost 3 nil.  Last weeks match at home was cancelled as by all accounts the Fruiters Arms had withdrawn from the league
unable to field a team.
On to last nights match away at the Brewers Arms, We were put into bat,  Kath was first in doing realy well score standing at 33 before she was bowled (she had this miss fortune in all games) Tony put on another 18  in his stride before being bowled, Phil got 3 making a total of 54, Poor Ken bowled first ball, Scott and me the least said the better.
Our bowling was a bit wayward to begin with, their opening batsman like Kath was pretty good, I managed to get him out for 21 this seemed to lift the team and our bowling, Scott got the next 31 for 2 Kath made it 3 down for 46 then had the luck of a knock out and Phil getting the 5 to make it 5 for 54 one ball remaining which missed the wicket game over we lost 54-55.
Into the second game Kath was at it again 18  Tony 5  Ron 1 and Phil bowled first ball you say no more of scott and me big O. Brewers leading batsman got the run required  Now 2 nil
In the third and final game the team all got bowled, other than me of course they managed 25 between them. In reply Ken got the only wicket  finished 3 - nil to the Brewers. But to cheer us up our captain Phil won the captains challenge match Bowling his opponent out first ball. so we finished the night on a high.

Bye See you next week

Did the contract with the Sonytino Broadcasting Corporation not come to fruition then? That's a shame as I think we should definitely have youtube highlights to enjoy ..... certainly more worth watching than Lineker & co on Match Of The Day  xnod

The time fly's bye and here we are a week later,Well nothing has change another thumping but we keep trying.Tonight we faced the Lads of the village B team, who we beat 2-1 away back in June. We were put into bat first and could not believe that both Kath and Ken were bowled first balls Ron was doing well, but he was bowled making it 3 down for 6 runs the rest of us could only make 10 more runs between us all knocking out. In reply Ken done well collecting 2 wickets but with only 16 to get we were soon 1 nil down.
In game two not much changed Kath was bowled again as was Tony, the rest of us all knocked out, But to my surprise I got nine runs  how about that, our final total was 22. but that was not enought so we are 2 - nil down.
Third and final game batting first again we didn't do well, all out for 19 both Kath and Tony bowled again our best two batsmen gone once more, I prolonged the the final result by bowling there lead batsman for three but with our score of 19 to beat it was soon all over, so we lost again 3 nil.
I was asked the other day what is a knockout, You strike the trap to lift the ball and hit it down the pitch which is 22 yards long and 41/2 yards wide, the ball must remain within the pitch markings and pass through the end two posts other wise it is classed as a knockout your batting is finished.
We haven't got a match next week, so we are going to use it as a training session. We have two more matches to play one away and the final game at Home, we are hoping to finish on a high with two wins, well you can live in hope can't you.

Thanks for looking in, and keep cheering on the DARTS  Bye

Hi again, Its Thursday morning the morning after the night before, Well our training session didn't come off with one thing and another going on and of course bad weather.
Well last night we played down at the Rose, Nice green pitch, few bumps and quite soft. anyrate the first game got under way and things looked bright when I got the first wicket with only three runs on the card, but this didn't last. We just could not hit the wicket, balls 1/2 inch wide or on target and bouncing over the top, anyrate there batsman retired after hitting 60 odd, after he left Both Tony and myself got further wickets with two K/o's making a total of 80 runs.
In return Kath batted first but only made 4 before K/o Ken and Scott both K/o's for ducks number 4 for us was me, we still had 76 runs to make, My batting was realy good hitting the ball nice and straight for a change, their bowling was off target I was quite happy, then one wasn't and I was bowled for 17 the best score I've made. Dave followed me and made 7 , his was a funny  affair  He slightly miss hit, the ball hit one end post bounced across the pitch hit the other post and stopped 1 inch from the line. Tony made up the rear and beat me by one run making 18, so we were all out for 46 and one game down.
In game two the Rose won the toss and decided to bat , we got our act together and the wicket started falling five bolwed and a K/o, Kath 2 Dave 1 MIck 1 and me getting the fifth  all out for 22, we were on a high, but as our bowling had improved so did there's Dave was bowled for three,  Kath and myself bowled first ball Phil got a duck that left Tony and Mick to hopefully get the runs. Tony hit 19 and Mick got the winning run to make it one all on the night.
Well in the third and final game we won the toss and batted first, this is where the night fell apart for us only 14 runs  two K/o's and the rest bowled. I was doing the score sheet and was gutted. Things did start off well with our bowling the wickets were falling 1 for 1  2 for 2  3 for 7 but it couldn't keep going we finished with 4 for 14 so lost 14 to 15 and the evening  2 games to 1
The last game we play is the captains league and the team asked me to play this one, I think I won the toss ,but who cares ( getting late & a few ciders) anyrate the Rose lad batted first and I bowled him second ball to my delight, all I had to do was get to ball back twice and hope he didn't do the same to me which I'm pleased to say he didn't so game to me. 9This was the won that got my wicket in the first game, Revenge) This put's us joint third in the league.
Well we lost again but a much much inproved show as a team, you get bowled which you can't do anything about, but I'm pleased with my batting it's getting better.
The last four of us left the Rose about 11-15pm and started our way home up East hill quite happy and putting the world to rights as you do, we are at home for our final game next week the Welsh Taven I think, before tonight they were sitting mid table so should be an interesting night to look forward to,

thanks for looking in     Wilkie

Hi all,  this will be my forth attempt to get my report on, Three time Ive lost the connection, so here's hoping this time will be ok.

Well this is the last one until next year and the new season which begins in May. I was hoping that we could finish the season on a high, but alas life's not like that, we had another resounding loss  3- nil to the Welsh Tavern, who are a very experienced team, and were on song.

We batted first in all three game's, not that it done us any good, between some of our poor batting, Me in particular, only made 9 runs with K / O in all three games. There was only Six of us to make up the team, so we couldn't change things round, only the order of batting, but saying that when all of your experience players are bowled for 0 or the odd 1 like's of Tony, Mike, Phil and Dave, and Kath having a off night by her standards, K/o's in the first two and bowled second ball in the third. we some how knew it wasn't our night.
Tony was the only one to get into double figures with 18 in the final game. To top the night  off, Phil lost the captains match but in his defence he was bowled second ball.

With the season now over, we want to improve the pitch, level it off, so as it can be seeded before october, also upgrade the lighting slightly.

Finally I would like to thank you all,who visit our B & T thread and if any of you think that you might like to join us next year and play, We will re-open this thread in april with all details before the season gets under way.
As I have mentioned in previous notes we have a good night out meet new and old friends
from various pub's who mainly are DFC supporters until they play us ofcourse.

Our team members this season were Dave, Mick, Tony,Kath, Phil, Ken, Scott, Ron and me Wilkie.

well done wilkie you have kept us informed and entertained with your weekly reports  , doesnt really matter wil, lose or draw its the taking part that counts ???????????

I think  to improve the team for next season  you should consider special high altitude training ,  suggest you take the squad up to 15,000 feet and ALL jump out but for f...s sake remember to put the chutes on first !!!!!!!!!!!!!

HI  And hello to Everyone.    It seems ages since I was last trying to keep you abreast of our Bat & trap goings on.
Just returned from our first meeting for the coming season, which is late due to the cancellation of the previous meeting. The new season starts in two weeks time on wednesday the 11th may.( As yet the venue not known.)
We are having a get together on wednesday 4th may over the ground, ( that PP) for a bit of practice and a pint, so if you fancy joining us we all will be very happy to meet you, thats if we don't already know you.

If we can get a few more member's we are hoping to have two teams, but we haven't got much time so if you are interested please let us know A S A P we need a total of 14 to run two teams.

Over the winter months, I've been busy on the pitch, I've taken out the slope with top soil from the new mini pitch area, I started wheeling it over in a wheel barrow but after 30 something loads I was shattered and hadn't made much impression, So I went over and spoke to the foreman working on the new pitches, He was very helpfull and in no time I had 4 dumper truck loads bought over, I now had 8 tons of the stuff to shift, I dont know what was worse barrow or moving a mountian, But all's well in the end, the grass is coming along nicely. Still one or two little jobs outstanding but will get there on time, no doubt.

So if any of you are interested in joining, please pop over the ground a week tomorrow the 11th. about 7.30-8 pm young or old like me, you are welcome. Hope to see you.

                                            Bye for now   Wilkie
