A very good albeit expected result on a hard pitch and four good goals and Andy having nothing to do thanks to a tight defence and Coylie getting my M.O.M. just ahead of Shinny.

The wind behind them in the first half spoilt several Darts moves but second half the wind held up the through passes and several players timed runs to perfection creating some exciting chances and three goals.

Lets keep up the scoring on Saturday with perhaps the strongest side being fielded to put a dent into Aveleys run in to the playoffs.

A few points:

Waltham Abbey looked like they had accepted relegation - very poor (possibly the poorest side we've seen?)

Ryan Johnson impressed me again - quietly doing everything he had to do at centre-half.

Very pleased to see Rooky score (what a penalty, by the way).

The Darts easily outclassed poor old Waltham Abbey and with the pressure lifted, we seem to be back playing the sort of carefree, quality football that saw us romp to a massive lead so early in the season. The whole team played well and there were a lot of candidates for MOTM ... I considered White, Noble and Coyle but eventually had to give it to Shinn who was outstanding throughout. This guy looks to be a real gem and appears to be the natural replacement for Jamie Day.

Nice to see Rook get off the mark. I thought he had a pretty good first half but had gone quiet again in the second and the penalty goal came along just in time to lift him back up again. One of the things that has made us so successful in recent seasons is the great team spirit and excellent work ethic adopted by our team. I hope Rooky can fit in and find his place because we know this guy is quality so I'm optimistic that when he gets up and running he will be a huge asset. Maybe that goal will be the filip that gets him going.

Bring on Aveley.

Bring on Aveley on saturday, we have now scored 116 goals in all competitions with 19 different names on the score sheet  xbow xbow xbow I think it's only Andy Young out of the squad that hasn't got a goal  xbow xbow
Stick him up front against Aveley?  xnod

If we get a penalty late on and the match is pretty much settled .....  xnod xnod

Just imagine the celebrations if he scored...

To be honest I would like him to take a penalty just to get on the score sheet irrespective of the game's situation.

So would I, but is that disrespectful to Aveley? Someone have a word with TB... xnod

Aldershot did it when they won the Ryman Premier in 2003:

"The league was actually secured on Easter Monday at Sutton United as Roscoe D'Sane scored in a 1-1 draw. The following Saturday it was party time at the Rec as Hendon were defeated 6-2 which even included a penalty from popular goalkeeper Nikki Bull."

John Beales hasn't scored either...

Besides, spoke to Youngy on Saturday about that and he said he wouldn't fancy the run back after the penalty (especially if he missed it!) so it won't be happening.

I don't want Youngy taking penalties any more than I want to see Burnsy played in goal. Youngy is an excellent goalkeeper and he doesn't have to get on the score sheet to prove anything to me.

I want our best 11 players in their best positions tomorrow and, most importantly of all, I want to see us win. I couldn't give a toss who scores our goals because it's a team game and everyone plays their part.

Whatever happens tomorrow it will have been a fantastic season, but it will make the day 10 times more enjoyable if we get a victory before being presented with the champions trophy. Aveley are a good side who are on a bit of a roll. We need to take them very seriously, stay focussed and remain professional. That's how we won the league in the first place.

Good 2nd half performance on a hard bumpy pitch. Coylie my Man of the Match again following an excellent performance on Tuesday. Waltham battled well but lacked quality whilst we're playing with the freedom that being champions bring. Looking forward to tomorrow.

On a different note, Although they look doomed to be relegated and did not disgrace themselves in the match, I would like to say thanks and well done to Waltham Abbey FC for showing some respect to the new RPL champions onto the pitch before the game last night with providing the guard of honour.

It was nice to see some dignity shown from their players and staff  xtip  xbow

Good luck next year WA  xtip

We could only try it! Don't see why not ;-)
Although with the amount we're bringing, it would probably reach Dartford!

Sorry to get back on topic  but despite last night's scoreline, it's worth mentioning that their 'keeper made some very good saves, particularly in the second half. Also very amusing were the jeers and taunts to Lee Burns when he missed the chance after scoring his goal. Good old Burnsey is great banter and acknowledged it all in the spirit it was intended. Bless 'im.

He even tried to blame the pitch claiming it hit a bobble lol, yet the pitch didnt effect him moments before when he scored. Any old excuse LOL.
