Not quite true (we were 9 points behind the leaders with 2 games to play before the match). However we can still get runners up spot if we win against Maidstone & Erith & Belvedere lose or draw against Cray Wanderers, tomorrow.

With Cray losing tonight after being 3-1 up at half time: Cray Wanderers     (3) 3-4 (1) Erith & Belvedere
The best we can get now is third. Still, 2 cups & a possible one on Monday isn't bad for a season with various
suspensions, injuries, illness & a huge (over 60) rotation of players.

Before the match, Henno was disappointed to have missed out on the chance of the runners up spot.
His team took it right to the last game, which in the circumstances is still some achievement.

It would have been nice to get third to keep his record of a top three finish in his three seasons as manager, but it wasn't to be.
He was without yet more key players tonight.

The fact that a lot of them have to work & cannot be let off early all the time, did not help matters.
Injury & tiredness (at their tender age!) also came into play.

Four of the players that played in the semi final for the Dartford Whites were not available tonight.
With such a depleted squad, Henno had to put himself down as one of the subs (again).

What I cannot understand is that the likes of Tait, Haworth, Coyle, Dafter etc played for the reserves in both league & cup matches this season, so why aren't they available now for selection when the manager of a team has to put themselves down as an emergency sub?

Yet again, there is a team selection headache for the final on Monday, which for those that have been ash-bound is on
Monday 17th May 2010 @ 7.45 against Herne Bay FC at Herne Bay FC in the Floodlight Trophy Final

Herne Bay FC
Stanley Gardens
Herne Bay CT6 5SG

I will report more soon without giving too much away to Herne Bay FC - LOL!

They're out of contract. Contracts for first team squad members expire at the end of the season, plus things like holidays. I believe that a decent number of the squad have been stuck in the Med after a player's stag weekend.
