Have just watched 'Saints and Sinners'. War film. Germans are retreating in the Ardenne and are shooting captured. 4 Yanks and a Brit escape a mass shooting. The Brit is holding top secret stuff and the group have to go through enemy lines to get it to the allies. With one Yank suffering shell shock and holding the only rifle things get lively.

Seen this a couple of times now, thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a different type of war film in that there isn't as much fighting as you would normally find.

It's based on the true story of the Malmedy massacre during the battle of the Bulge where German soldiers shot 84 defenceless captors. Saints and Soldiers follows a small group of soldiers who escaped and tried to make their way back to their lines.

Watched Shutter Island the other night. Completely different to how the trailer advertised it. I thought it was gonna be a bit of a  creepy mystery. Instead you got 2 hours of asking yourself "why's that happened?" "what?" "wasn't he..?" etc.

To be fair though, the ending did make up for it (although a little obvious). However, I still can't accept DiCaprio in these grown up roles. He still looks like a kid!!! His acting wasn't bad, it was just he looked like a kid trying too hard to act. Not over the top, just child-like.

All-in-all i'd give it 2 whistles and a nod  xwhis  xwhis xnod

The Damned United was broadcast on the BBC the other day, which I thought was a great film, showing the relationship between Clough and Taylor, as well as his failings at Leeds. Alhtough some of the action is reported to be untrue, it was a great film and I certainly recommend watching it before the BBC take it down from BBC iPlayer online on Sunday. Sheen plays Clough well but I'm pretty sure Clough didn't speak in a Welsh accenT!  xgiggle

Fisty, the IMDB synopsis as follows:

"Their Morris packed to the gills, the punctilious Keith and the more spontaneous Candice-Marie arrive at a Dorset campground where they pay £10 in advance for ten nights. It's peaceful: they visit Corfe Castle, eat vegetarian food, and go in search of raw milk. Then a fellow with a loud radio pitches his tent near theirs: Keith is beside himself and it doesn't help when Candice-Marie decides to befriend the young man. Things get worse when a couple arrive on a motorcycle, make noisy love in their tent, and then start an illegal campfire. It's too much for Keith: he loses it. Will our middle-class couple find a bucolic corner, or are they doomed to brawl with the noisy and unwashed?"

Actually all you need to know is a) it's directed by Mike Leigh, b) it stars the ever-watchable Alison Steadman, and c) Roger Sloman steals the entire film. That should be enough to recommend it to anyone  xnod Altogether now....

I want to take you there, he said, I want to go with you"

Lardy, for a most reasonable outlay of £6.99 on Play.com you can secure yourself a 2 disc set of Meantime AND Made In Britain. You can overdose on Tim Roth to your heart's content  xnod xbow

I've seen Toy Story 3 twice now. And I've just treated myself to TS1 and 2 on Youtube.

This is probably the best ever animated franchise. I love it.

Brings back memories from when I was 6...

I'm going to get the Toy Story set at some point - I just can't justify paying £10 each for the dvd's when I can probably get them at a bootsale or in a sale for about £3 each at some point.

And, boy, Conay makes me feel old. I remember seeing Toy Story 1 in school on VHS in about 1996.
