Rambo I know that you don't have buses where you live and if you do they are only single deckers so you won't appreciate the finer comments from those good old conducters on the Dartford routes.  xnod

I met him (Matt Munro senior) a couple of times as I went to school with his son "Matthew", when I was a lad. The school was in Ealing and they lived nearby. I remember their "posh" house with electronic gates.

Unlike TrevorB, same age burt a year older, I thoroughly enjoyed, and still do, enjoy Matts music, such a pure voice.

Portrait of my Love was his first single, in 1960 I think, (and at an age I couldn't afford to buy singles), directed by George Martin.

Matt Monro took this name from 'Matt' , who was the name of the first Fleet Street journalist who wrote about him, and 'Monro' was the name of Winifred Attwell's father, as it was her who first recommended him to Decca records, even though it was with Parlaphone that he launched his successful recording career.

Sadly, I never saw him perform live, and have had to rely on TV shows, 45's, LPs, cassettes, and now CDs to listen to his music. A very pure voice indeed. And very easy listening.

Sorry Trevor  xno

Pete, as we had formed our group in 1960 made up of (Dart Tech Schoolboys) we couldn't afford mikes and P.A. geer so resorted to doing instrumentals for our first year of gigs otherwise me just might have done a Matt Monroe number. xwhis

Hi Trev.

Well aware you were in a group, but this is the first time I was aware of other members being Dart Tech boys. Who were the other members of the band. And I don't mean Keith Richard, who was my patrol leader at 7th Dartford scout troop when I first moved up from the cubs. Looking back, it surprises me too.

Happy listening
