KENT SENIOR CUP QTR FINAL V. WHITSTABLE
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:56:05 PM »

According to the Kent FA website this match will be played at PP on Tuesday March 15th. This means that the home league game against Eastleigh scheduled for this date will have to be rearranged.

Versus Whitstable? Weren't they supposed to be playing Welling in the last round? Does this mean Welling lost? If  so, I must have missed the result....

I was thinking the same thing! At least Welling would have made the match an attractive proposition. Surely some sort of entry fee reduction will be in place this time.

Whitstable beat Welling last week I think it was. Don't expect any reduction in entry price and certainly not just because its against Whitstable as it won't happen. It will be normal gate prices.
Dartford don't reduce admission prices.

Is it not the fact that Gate Receipts are shared between the 2 clubs in Cup competitions. So therefore would a price reduction reduce the potential income for both clubs. With the current financial climate most clubs would want to make as much as they can, quite righty so...........

A rough rough Example:

Att: = 500 @ £5 (reduced prices) = £2500 - Match Day Costs (a wild guess) £500 = £2000 / 2 Clubs = £1000 each.

Att: = 300 @ £12 (normal prices) = £3600 - Match Day Costs (a wild guess) £500 = £3100 / 2 Clubs = £1550 each.

I'm sure that most of us want to see The Darts, reach a cup semi-final, they would pay normal price. There would be no debate if this was the final and a bit of gleaming silverware was up for grabs.................

Welling put their youth team out.

If they can't afford to pay their first team for one match a week, they certainly couldn't afford to pay them for two matches a week!!!

It was not a case of payment of players it is more that their squad is down to the very barest of bones - the following Saturday they could only field 13 players including a 17 year old on the bench.  If Welling had picked up an injury or a red card then they would have real problems trying to field a side in the BSBS as they can't sign any players at present.

Ian Pullman played for us in the Stonebridge Rd days, Southern League Eastern Division.  He wasn't anything to write home about then.  I saw him when we played Whitstable in a friendly a couple of years ago and he was no more effective.

Cue Ian Pullman to score a hat-trick against us.  Beware the ides of March!

And isn't one of the reasons their squad is down to the very barest of bones because a lot of players left because the club couldn't afford to pay them?

Was he the one who jumped ship mid season to Sittingbourne(???) on a 7 dayer, leaving a lot of guys fuming?

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?
