Basingstoke town Tuesday night
« on: February 26, 2011, 10:01:22 PM »

As the lads have a day off today I'm hoping for some fireworks from them in this  Tuesdays game, with luck we might have a good turnout. 3point will put us above them in the league.

Shame yesterdays game was off, at least the players got a bit of a break, I reckon we can take 3 points on Tuesday, they're roughly in the same position. Charlie will be back as well COYD

Shame Sky are showing the Chelsea v Man Utd game, it will no doubt affect our attendance as the casual supporter  will opt for the cosy warm option and put their feet up in front of the box !

I haven't got Sky, and I can't make the match. So I'll have to put my feet up in front of Gary

I have it on good authority that Welling's rearranged match against Bromley (the original one was abandoned because their candle's went out) was due to be played on Tuesday evening but has been rescheduled for Wednesday evening to avoid losing support because of the Chelsea v Man Utd game on TV.

Does anyone know why we never play home matches on a Wednesday?. It seems like good sense to me on occasions like this.

Bit rich seeing as the last one was abandoned after 88 mins and the new one even has big price reductions!

Same as Ozy! Mind you, if I had Sky, I still could'nt muster enthusiasm for the Premiership. Oil the voice Gary, the fans await!

I was never happy at school. This one time the headmaster called me into his office. I was terrified. My friend jimmy went to his office and he could'nt sit down for a week, so I'm thinking please, please don't let him find me sexually attractive.

Historically we have always played on a Tuesday and i am more than happy with that.

Also there is so much football on telly now that whatever night you chose there will probably be a game on and don't forget Wedeneday night is also euro champs league night.

It has been suggested before that we should change midweek games from a Tuesday night to avoid clashes with the Roadrunners so that there is acutally room in the car park - also to avoid most other local rivals playing on a Tuesday night as well - Charlton, Millwall, Ebbsfleet, Welling & Bromley etc. all play on Tuesdays.  The reasons given to stick to Tuesdays are that this fits in with TB's training schedule and there are insufficient floating supporters to make any sense on changing nights.  Personally I would think that a switch to a Monday or Wednesday would actually increase attendances for midweek matches as there are a good number of floating supporters out there who like a footie fix.

As for Roadrunners the general concensus of those who have answered the above question about midweek fixtures is that the Roadrunners should see sense and move to another night it shows that there are differing views about who has first dibs on using PP.......

......and the function room - there have been occasions when Roadrunners have had the function room booked whilst DFC have had a home match and we end up with only one bar for a big crowd - or even worse have that closed soon after the game for a second function.

Sheri was supposed to be back for H&W, so I assume he'll be in for this one.
