DFC v Lewes
« on: March 04, 2011, 07:25:32 PM »

A very valid point has been raised on the Welling forum: On 26th March England play Wales in Cardiff with a 3pm KO. This will surely affect crowd figures at games across the country (I can definitely predict that Dartford's attendance will be short by at least one xwhis). Any chance this could get moved to a 1pm kick off allowing supporters to watch us muller Lewes first before retiring to the club bars to watch Wales do the same to England our plucky lads defeat the taffs?

Would seem to make sense  xshrug

Why would anyone miss watching The Darts to see that jumped up load of under-performing prima donnas sully the national shirt once again whilst they struggle against a second rate team like Wales?

Rather than watching England take it from me there will be a lot of posing, moaning at the officials and a total lack of passion from the eleven masquerading in England shirts.

Also Welling don't get a crowd anyway - they only managed just over 600 on Wednesday when they played Bromley and that was when the price was reduced to a fiver to get in!!

Fine. We'll just ignore the potential for lost revenue (gate & bar) and carry on regardless. Excellent work.  xshake

While it's easy to be disenchanted with the current crop for reasons pointed out in Spike's thread, it does baffle me how people can turn their backs entirely on their national team. A bit like the saying "You can choose your friends but not your family".

A good point raised about KO time for this game and one I would endorse. Besides, early matches are fun.

Would make sense to moe it forward and promote the fact it's on in the club bar and they do food and drink each. Get slot of extra revenue then aswell.

Whatever time we kick off you won't please everyone ....but a 1 pm KO would make sense from revenue point of view (as Sponge said in an earlier post).

that assumes that all Dartford supporters are English....some of us took great delight in their team chasing down 328 in style in the Cricket World Cup earlier this week.  Anyway what are Wales and England doing kicking off at 3pm on a Saturday in mid-season it just goes to show that the FA don't give a toss about grass roots football.

How, in any way, does DA Mikey's post assume that all Dartford supporters are English?  xshrug

Perhaps by saying in these quotes it does baffle me how people can turn their backs entirely on their national team would suggest that

I thought the word "their" might suggest that the choice of nation belongs to the supporter in question. Apparently it exclusively means English. Thanks for clearing that up.  xtip
