IMHO from the commentary box (hardcore only ha ha) the Jones tackle was not malicious, but lazy and feet up. If the handbags had not begun I think he may have been dealt with differently.

Don't think that St. Albans City FC were playing the ref., they were just fighting for their place in the division.

Their '10' was best player on the park, held the ball well and was a handful all night.

The FA respect campaign is pathetic. Too many reasons to list why it is.

Good game of open football. Young St Albans side probably (aside from Janice Battersby) deserved a draw. Turning point was White sending off, and I would have kept Leeeeeeeeeeeeeee Noble on but he took a knock and was showing signs of tiredness.

Learnt a new word last night - Disbalance. That Clark bloke is diff. gravy...cont (Australia)

In fact, the ref saved the game from developing into farce, by acting sensibly early when dealing with the ridiculous melee and kept the game going as a highly watchable event, rather than dismissing 3 or 4 players who deserved to go!
As for white-usual puerile behaviour! Surely the Manager, as everybody watching could bear testimony to, it was inevitable a red was on the way given time....
Talking of which, what's the use of becoming animated when in front and skulking in the shadows, arms crossed and silent when behind?
AND, not including, a skilled, fast, very fit and not to mention fresh ( when harris was virtually on his last legs) burch, has probably driven the nail in the coffin as far as his staying at this club is concerned.
Well done to Nobes & Burnsey though-top notch!

Was an exciting game and enjoyed it thoroughly, White sending off was predictable after the talking and cannot see why White was not taken off beforehand. Think the team really missed Bradbrook, as shown by both of St Albans goals coming from out left side. Think Noble was our best player and so gets my MOTM. Could not see the sense behind both our substitutions, both Noble and Sheringham were having exceptional games  xshrug

Off topic but I cant help feeling that the league...indeed non league football need to learn a lesson as at the moment there are far too many games and hence the quality is not as good as ALL sides are knackered and the crowds are dropping due to too many games in a short space of time.

I know the snow/winter was a harsh one but I think back to Thurrock (away) in the trophy and I cant help feeling that on that Saturday we should have been playing a league game with the early rounds of the trophy being midweek perhaps up until the last qualifying round or the first round proper and thus allow more league games to be completed before the weather turns. (felt that same last year at Sittingbourne as well)

Need to complete as many league games as possible before December to stop the massive pile up of fixtures and the draining of non league players legs later in the season.

Anyways another point gained against a side scrapping for their lives and hopefully 3 to come Saturday against Lewes

Agreed. That was our 7th home league tuesday night game. Thats gonna end up 1/3 of our home programme played on a bloody tuesday night. With all these other attractions that we have to compete  against, its no wonder our average has plummeted, and to not even mention, the LOT of money that the club has missed out on. Something should be done, all clubs cant afford to lose that much each year.

A thoroughly enjoyable game in which could have gone either way. Once again our discipline cost us the points and even though James was mistaken for Bonner and carded in the initial fracas he should have curbed his aggression knowing he was treading a fine line. He will now spend more time on the sidelines and really needs to take a good look at the way he conducts himself on the field of play.

Once again Bastock was in good or lucky form (whatever way you look at it) and it looks like he played his last game for St.Albans…according to some of their supporters last night. Good luck to him and I can’t think of a better role model for any young goal keeper.

I've asked before, but I'm still not sure I understand the suspensions system for red cards. It was explained to me that it was one-match ban for two yellows = a red or a "normal" straight red and a 3-match ban for a straight violent-conduct red. In which case, why has Gary got Whitey down for a 2-match ban on his fixtures/results thread? Is it because it's his second red for the season? If so, I was led to believe that previous bookings were disregarded from 1 January. Can anybody explain? My head hurts. D'oh....

I've just checked the FA suspensions list for the BSBS: the 2-match bans there seem to be for 5/10/15 bookings. On the other hand, there's a Maidenhead player serving a 4-match ban for a sending off. Curiouser and curiouser.

One match for the red card this time (as it is two yellows) and an additional one match for accruing a second red card of the season

Well that's two enjoyable games against Basingstoke and St Albans in which we have been in a position to win and it didn't quite happen. Pleased for the players that they showed the attitude to put the Staines debacle right behind them. Some interesting officiating in this game!

On the St Albans website it mentions that it is perhaps appropriate that Paul Bastock's last game for them was at Dartford because our ground was probably the scene of his best game for them. So they think so too.

A few of us drinkers who like to see the town/city rather than just the ground at away games have fervently expressed the wish that St Albans and Lewes do not go down as they are two of the best places to go in this league. After listening to their manager's interview on their site I am even more of that opinion. Emotional stuff, they seem to have all the cards stacked against them yet he takes time to describe in detail how good their players are. Top man.
Finally a thought for Ken Shabby. This was the game he came all the way from Spain in February to see.And we ended up away to Gateshead in the Trophy.

Ah, that is what I had supposed, but I was obviously misled into thinking the slate was wiped clean from the start of the year.

A good match for neutrals, but disappointed with a point against a team that in all likelihood will go down. I thought at 2-1 we could go and score again and really put things to bed, their second goal was poor and started with bad passing in our midfield. White should have been taken straight off, and after that we could have as easily  lost as won the match. We should not assume we are safe yet, when several teams below are fighting hard to stay up and capable of getting some results.

Spot on mate - I kept off the forum until now as thought I see if anyone had anything to say that I agreed with strongly!
