St Albans v Dartford 2nd April
« on: March 26, 2011, 08:09:01 PM »

If I'm posting this as a new blog, it's almost certain someone has already started a thread about this match, but if not, here we go with another chance to continue our push up the table.

I was never happy at school. This one time the headmaster called me into his office. I was terrified. My friend jimmy went to his office and he could'nt sit down for a week, so I'm thinking please, please don't let him find me sexually attractive.

Personally find it interesting that they have gotten their 10 points back and hence have an extra incentive to do the business on Saturday with us suffering the consequences!!

Guessing it will be a tad warmer and the game a tad better than the trophy game their a couple of years back during the reign of King Cody!

Perhaps what you meant is "interesting that they haven't lost their points yet" - seeing as though their appeal will be heard on Friday (unless, of course, you know something no-one else does)?  xshrug

Plenty to vist. Good place to start is St Michaels Village ( Short cab ride from the station) then work your way up Fishpool Street into town. Ground is between pub 9 & 10.

Why did  they lose the points in the first place?

The FA Statement from Feb

At a Regulatory Hearing today, St. Albans FC were deducted ten league points and fined £7,500 after a case of financial irregularities was proven.

The Conference South club were found to be in breach of the following FA Rules - C2(b)(ii), C1(b)(viii) and C2(b)(iii).

The three breaches are in relation to financial irregularities in respect to payments and expenses to players.

In summing up the Chairman of the Regulatory Commission had serious concerns over the financial irregularities within the Club during the 2008 - 2009 season.  Such irregularities enabled the Club to have an unfair sporting advantage over others within the League which is simply unacceptable.

St Albans City FC were warned as to their future conduct and the ten league points deduction is immediate.

I was at the St Albans v Dorchester game on Tuesday night, watching on behalf of another club and to be honest St Albans started off okay. First half they were the better team and were unlucky to be 1.0 down. Second half they wilted and after conceding a second it looked all over. Their young keeper then saved a penalty and St Albans came back to life, scoring one and looking for the draw pushing untold players forward. In injury time they were caught on the break twice and conceded another two goals. Not a bad team really, but the whole club is in turmoil with the likelihood of a 10 point deduction and Chairman/player issues. They have a couple of decent players and the Charlton keeper looked good, despite being exposed by his defenders at times. Can't see anything other than a win for Darts on Saturday though.

A superb beer town and a personal favourite drinking destination of mine with or without footy thrown in. I will be on an early train and going for a beer breakfast in one of the 'Spoons and doing the rounds before and after the game.

Details of my last jaunt around town which can be used as a rough guide to the local pubs can be found here

Still no news on the FA's verdict (due today)? Didn't see anything under Google News just now.

Unusually for me, I am hoping to make a rare long-distance (for me) trip round the M25 to St Albans tomorrow. Does anybody know if those long roadworks in the north-east quadrant of the M25 are still taking place and, if so, how much time they're likely to add to the journey time?
