DARTS v DOVER on Easter Monday
« on: April 21, 2011, 10:15:04 PM »

Well, with the last home league game of the season now only 4 days away, I am diving in to start this Dover match thread.

Fans had probably recently been expecting this game to have been the last home game of the season, but with the Kent Senior Cup Final against Bromley now being played at the best non league ground in the country, let's hope the Darts can celebrate their first KSC Final win since 1986-87 (2-0) and 1987-88 (1-0) v Maidstone at Gillingham to crown an excellent season to be remembered.

Back to the Dover match, I have just purchased my rail tickets for my last day trip down from Merseyside to PP for this season, and hoping for as an enjoyable match and the same result as the reports suggested the Woking match was.

Really looking forward to this trip down and hoping for a sun drenched match, with a nicely watered pitch, and the chance to say thank you to all those involved with the club for what I rate as a highly successful season.

Tony and the team have delivered nothing less than I had hoped for when we started out on our campaign last August. A mid table league position consolidating our  promotion, an excellent FA Trophy run including 2 matches against Crawley Town, who despite getting promotion into the Football League, were incapable of beating the Darts, followed by the bonus of making a return to the 1st round proper of the FA Cup with two very memorable matches against Port Vale.

Now next up is Dover, and here's hoping we can complete the double over our opponents from Douvres. Hoping for a smog free weekend!

All that remains to be done now is to renew my season ticket for next season.

Been waiting for this match thread to let people know what the younger fans will be doing....

At around 1.30pm, we will be meeting up at the entrance to Dartford park, and walking up to the ground in a derby march style. More details can be found here:

It is open for anyone to join us, as it is the last home match of the season, so we are pulling out all the stops!!

Despite recent results, i'm really looking forward to this game because it has the perspective of a cracker.
Personally, i would like to see bonner back at the back, and sheringham and pallen as a partnership again with burns moving back to the middle of the park.

I know we can all get carried away on the performances of late and we have a right to be upset and this is the place to voice our opinions, good and bad. I think we all agree that if we'd known at the start of the season we would finish mid table then we would have taken that. That's what we've done and on top of that we've had some very good cup runs.
I've enjoyed this season for the most part, except for the mid season woes but the lads showed what they could do and got us out of a hole and I do believe we've got some very good players to build around for next season. TB will know who to build around and who he has to let go.
The Bromley performance was one if them lows and no doubt the players and management know that and will address that on Monday.
Playing Dover and beating them and trying to deny them a play off place should be enough of an incentive as well as the financial side of things. If we can beat them and damage their play off hopes, they will hopefully be with us next season again and it will gaurantee another good gate at PP and put some money in the coffers.
Let's finish the season on a high, beat Dover and Maidenhead and then lift the KCC Trophy. That would be a great end to the season for me.  xnod

I expect  us to do everything we can, whether it's Dover or Lewes. Looking forward to this one. Expect 100% effort, cos they're going to need it to counter a very good Dover side.

Morning chaps, how we all doing? Big game tomorrow, looking forward to it! If you could just roll over and play nice like you have done your past two games we will all be very grateful!!! Or have you been taking it easy, saving yourselves for tomorrow?! Either way, we certainly owe you one after beating us earlier in the season!

We have found a bit of form recently - im expecting us to either play you off the park and win by three or four goals, or we play like a bunch of school boys and you turn us over, certainly nothing in between.

And forget all the hype about Adam Birchall - no need for you boys to man mark him or crowd him out of the game. He is a very average footballer and every one of his 43 goals this season have had fluke written all over them . . . . .  xwhis! In all seriousness, the guy is a football genius and ran the game against Basingstoke on Friday. Will Jon Main start? Who knows, you certainly cant second guess our manager! Main has actually looked the part in the limited number of appearances he has made - got 3 goals in one start and 4 sub appearances I think. Not too bad!

Either way, should be a cracking game tomorrow and a game that we must win if we are to get into the play offs. Probably expect at least 200 Dover fans tomorrow, probably a few more knowing how important the game is for us.

Any game agaisnt Dover will b important and the fact we can stop them getting in the playoffs adds even more to the game. All the players fans and management know how much it means to turn them over.

Turning them over at their place was a highlight this season, and doing the double would be perfect.

Big crowd great atmosphere and a show of the support we can give with the players showing us what they can do. And obviously a pen!

I wouldn't say it's our cup final but it's certainly an important game. And I'm sure we will have more than 200 tomorrow - I was being conservative and trying not to sound all BBB! However I forgot that some of you consider attendances to be the be all and end all!
