Cody McDonald
« on: April 25, 2011, 07:32:17 PM »

Right so he's 24 goals in 39 games for the Gills, won ESPN's PFA Fan's Player of the Year and his loan deal ends at the end of the season. He's said he wants to stay at Gillingham, and it seems unlikely that he will stay at Norwich if they go up. Looking at some of the Norwich forums it seems they want to keep him if they stay in the Championship but I've seen and heard they've stuck a £500,000 price tag on him. Looking at other club's forum's it looks like Sheff Utd could be interested http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=463&fid=221&sty=2&act=1&mid=2117758357

And want I wanted to know is, do we have a sell on fee on him and if so how much? (If we are allowed to know)

I believe we are entitled to a 20% sell on fee, minus the initial fee.

So we would get £100,000 minus his original tag we sold him for if his deal was £500,000 then?

And some of these rumours are funny, Cody to Stoke for 1.7mil xbop xgiggle xgiggle

If he goes for 100,000 then we would get the difference between what he went for original and what the balance so if we had been paid 40,000 then we would get the 60,000 not a bad return on a quality player!

Percentage. Gilesy should have said that if he goes for £500,000 we will get £100,000 - £40,000 = £60,000.

True. I didn't say whether it was opinion, fact or rumour... and I haven't seen the paperwork, so I guess it's an act of faith :)

Cody will be on the move now - Norwich won't keep him now they are in the Premiership and he will be picked up by at least a League One club with serious ambitions if not a Championship one.  Gillingham cannot afford him especially with the transfer fee he would command.  With Charlton allegedly looking to splash some cash he could end up at The Valley.
