F1 "A Bit Exciting" Rumour!
« on: May 08, 2011, 07:38:09 PM »

A rumour is growing in sporting circles that F1 is actually "a bit exciting" and not, as has been previously believed a drab, boring, predictable 90 minute procession where the drivers actually have very little to do. A source at today's race in Turkey stated "C'mon, look at the pitstops we had today. The most since 1992 ...or something. McClaren's pit crew's trouble with Lewis Hamilton's lug nut, which lost him several seconds, was life & death stuff and worth the exhorbitant entrance fee alone. And some cars didn't even start. Wow!". The race itself was eventually won by Sebastian Vettel, starting from poll position for the 4th successive time in this 4 race-old season, who lead from start to finish. He has now won 3 of the 4 races so far, making up for his dismal showing in the previous race in China where he finished a laughable 2nd (or P2 as the commentators love to call it now because it's so hip, so now, so 'exciting'). So there's still everything to fight for as the circus moves on to Spain where who knows, or dare predict, what might happen Zzzzzzzzzzzz........

You really shouldn't start these rumours unless there's some degree of truth in them.
We'll have all sorts of outrageous rumours on here.
Someone might even suggest that cricket is interesting!!!

Was Old Timer in that race?

I am sure he would have no trouble overtaking anyone.

Hardcore driving, it's a way of life.

A sport that relies totally on the weather to inject some 'excitement' into it. Yaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwn!.  xshake (enjoyed the 2 hours of indulged-celebs, trophy WAGS & umbrella watching, mind).

I have to admit that seeing that nice, young German chappie losing it on the last lap and the valliant Englishman passing him to take the chequered flag was rather exciting.

Always nice to beat the Crouts Germans.   xnod

Because there was stuff all else to do on a soggy Sunday evening. Besides, it would be rather silly of me to pass comment on a sports' supreme ability to bore the socks off people without having taking the time to actually watch it. And I was right ... BORING! BORING! BORING!

Still, it's better than tennis.

I quite enjoyed it, espesh the bit where the marshall nearly got run down by the car when clearing the debri of the track. Only joking, but what a hardcore nutter.

Tennis in F1 cars, now there's a thought.

Tell you what was exciting though. Scam at the Bear on Sat. Lead signer got stuck in traffic and scam were 1 hour+ late on the scene. When they started they on fire. None of the jingoistic, flag waving, toffee nosed Proms patrons - just God Save the Queen and Mini Lard.

I hear ya on that one!! And the worst thing is pretty soon everyone will be a tennis "expert" and eating strawberry's and cream and sitting on "Murray Mound", wearing silly jumpers and moaning about the rain delaying play.  xshake xshake xshake

Was sorry to miss The Scam (and Mini Lard) on Saturday night my friend but even they would have been knocked into a top hat by The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra's rendition of Barber's "Adagio For Strings". Simply breathtaking stuff at The Orchard Theatre. They return in November but unfortunately we shall be skanking our not inconsiderable stuff in Minehead that weekend.  xbop xbop
