Birchall

Apparently both Giggl'em and Newport Co have offered derisory amounts of money for the Dover player. Well, that's according to Mr Parmenter.
I wonder if Martin Hayes knows what's going on.

Looks like it's true: Dover Athletic accept Gillingham bid for Adam Birchall

From what I've just read on the Dover forum they have accepted all 3 bids from Gillingham, AFC Wimbledon & Swindon. They have now given Birchall permission to speak with Gillingham but the player actually wants to speak with all 3 clubs before he decides.
As he only lives in Maidstone & his partner is soon to give birth Gillingham is his prefered club.
It was Hessie that signed and brought Adam to Dover.

After reading that report on the BBC sports news link above it just confirms that the Gills bid has been accepted and that he is having talks with them.
As of yet he hasn't actually signed for anybody.

There's obviously no honour among football club chairmen. Parmenter's "gentlemen's agreement" my a**e!

It's not like selling a house or car??
He had 3 bids, and they were all acceptable, so JP accepted them.
The decision is now with the player, not DAFC, so I don't see what JP has actually done wrong in this case?
It's no ones decision to make but Adam's now, as the chairman of DAFC can't force him to accept a contract, so really what is the bull about honour?

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

Didn’t I hear Jim Parmenter say “over my dead body” that he would not be sold to Gillingham on Radio Kent?  At 48k that’s not a bad bit of business I'd say.

And after reading the Dover forum to get the details it's pretty clear how the majority of Dover fans feel about Birchall leaving.
It's also pretty clear that Dover and the Gills are not the best of friends.
If you've got a few spare minutes it's quite interesting reading.

Hilarious. They're not a very charitable bunch are they. It makes you realise just how sensible most of our posters are when you look at the reaction Cody got when he left here compared to Birchall leaving Dover.

Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and acknowledge that a player is too good to hold on to and anyone with half a brain should understand that he is entitled to go wherever he feels he can get the best deal and/or the best chance of success. Dover were lucky to have Birchall; he was a phenomenal success for them as was Cody for us at Dartford.

Players come and go and our expectations should be; 100% commitment and loyalty whilst they are with us but if they choose to leave then fair enough and its none of our business where they go. Or to put it another way, it's not okay for one of our players to go and watch Tottenham but its fine to go and sign for them.
