On a hard pitch and boiling afternoon Dartford turned up with the bare eleven against the newly formed Orpington FC who will be playing their first season in the KYL. All credit to our opponents who we determined, physical, aggressive and made life very difficult for The Darts.
Dartford on the other hands it could be said, had a bad day at the office and never got into their normal passing style of game and played as individuals rather than as a team. Hopefully this will be a wake up call to push on and progress in the next couple of weeks before the season begins.
Darien Neavin was upended in the first half to give Kaka Dembele the chance to put us ahead from the spot which he duly obliged. Half time arrived with Dartford edging the game, but without any cohesion. The second half saw Orpington take the initiative and deservedly grabbing an equaliser midway through. The impressive Orpington goal keeper pulled off a couple of fantastic saves before with the last kick of the game Tom Fawcitt drilled home his shot from the edge of the area.
