Heads up, avoid the M25 Sunday
« on: September 24, 2011, 10:33:48 AM »

Just to let you all know, there is a demonstration being planned by the Motorcycle Action Group.
The plan is to ride the M25 in our area using the inside 2 lanes at a speed of about 45MPH. This is to protest at legislation that is restrictive and over controlling and some proposals won't be declared or revealed until AFTER the legislation has been passed.

All this will start at about 1pm on Sunday the 25th, so if you are travelling the M25 I would advise you to avoid those times.
Start points around Kent and Essex are
Clackets Lane
BP A20 sidcup by-pass
M2 Medway services
M20 J11 Hythe services
2 points on the A127 at Wickford and Benfleet

Apologies for any delays incurred. More info to be found here:

Bloody bikers - all that greasy hair & dirty clobber, it's diabolical! I hope the rozzers arrest them all for dangerous (slow) driving and continual use of an overtaking lane!

Can't remember the last time I saw a biker who had greasy hair and clobber. I wear over a grand of technically designed all weather kit.
At least one of them greasy claims doesn't apply to this biker.
There will be no use of the outside lane, as there is no intention of blocking the road or creating a road block. It's a protest ride.
If we block the road, no one sees our message and they will just think that we are a menace

If they get these laws in, things such as GPS controlled throttles, it will be on cars pretty soon after.
There is a reason that the tunnel is free to bikes, thats because we get of our arses and fight for our rights.

Not wholly pertinent to this thread, but did anybody see the astonishing convoy of black cabs heading away from london on Thursday? I was driving into the city at about 11:30am and noticed the coast-bound A2 completely empty just after joining at Dartford Heath. This was followed by a number of marked police jeeps, and, I would say approximately sixty black cabs (in single file), ending with a "rolling roadblock" of more jeeps. Police bikes were scattered along the convoy and some were blocking off the Black Prince S/B entry sliproad.

Although I couldn't see who was in the taxis (bit dangerous to over scrutinise such things while travelling at 50mph in the opposite direction), I was able to make out that there was generally only one or two passengers in each. Naturally, there was a considerable delay behind the procession.

Anyone know what this was all about? I'd guess they were off somewhere around the motorway, but maybe it could've just been Jeremy getting to PP for an early pint  xwhis

In the days when I used to commute up the A2 to Woolwich, I regularly saw this  convoy. I understood it to be the London cabbies taking deprived/disabled children on an ?annual? outing to the seaside (Margate?) for the day.

It could be one of the many things that the Black Cab drivers do. The seaside trip is a regular one, as is the annual Euro-Disney one as well.
All for the benefit of Disabled Children.
The clue to either is if they were followed by either RAC or AA trucks and Vans. We used to cover the convoy to Euro disney.

BTW sorry to any that did get caught up in todays protest, it was a massive turn out, and quite a few were ignoring the advice to not block the outside lane and stay between 40-45.
I came back on back routes and it looked to be chaotic even 1-2 hours later. The police stopping the traffic to allow u all out the srvices didn't help either!

Well, so long as you enjoyed yourselves

Yep, the fleet ended with two AA vans, so I guess it must've been that. First time I've seen this in almost ten years of going up and down that road most every day though.
