29th August 2005 Notes
« on: August 29, 2005, 11:20:55 AM »

For obvious reasons a very disappointing result against Dorking which sees our exit from the FA cup at the first hurdle. If I can I would like to clear one or two thing for you regarding yesterdays match. Kevin Spriggs was unwell on Friday and on Sunday morning was still not well enough to play and Tommy Olson was away so Dan Westerman and Craig Maguire came into the side, these two young players for me performed very well.I don't think Dorking caused us many problems in the first half but we dangled the carrot and gave them a penalty to our credit we came back to equalise just on half time which I thought would bring some life into our performance.Unfortunately this did not happen and although we hit the bar and had some good crosses going  into the box we did not seem have the energy to get on the end of them.I took jimmy off just to try and change things a little with Dominic's pace and Ian to hold the ball up. In the last five minutes they put an harmless cross into the box which deceived Kevin and went into the top corner but just before that Dorking hit the bar and post so may be they deserved their bit of luck with the goal.I have no excuses for our performance today as at times we looked jaded and did not seem to have run in us.I hope the players learn from this and put things right for Tuesdays game with Waltham forest

thank you for your support on a disappointing afternoon
