The Boreham Wood Away Thread - sponsored by 1pm kickoffs!
« on: August 31, 2005, 01:35:40 AM »

At the beginning of the season, we would have been overjoyed to have gone 5 games and won 13 points. Last nights draw was so close to time, but the game is 90 minutes plus all the added minutes, that WF had nothing to lose and everything to gain in pushing forward when they were one goal down.

However, on to Saturdays match v Boreham Wood, and the mad man that I am, I have just been looking at the results so far, and perhaps after last nights performance against a good strong young footballing side, we shouldn't be fearing Boreham Wood.

With 5 games gone, I would suggest we have had the harder games of the two sides so far, especially if one considers where the opposition are now in the league.

All Boreham Woods opponents are currently in the bottom half of the table as follows:

H 4-0 v Wivenhoe     19th
A 2-0 v Wingate        17th
A 2-1 v Enfield          20th
H 7-3 v Aveley          21st
A 2-1 v Berkamstead 14th

ie, 4 of their five opponents are in the bottom 6 positions in the table.

Conversely, the Darts have played

A 1-0 v Arlesley              6th
H 3-2 v Great Wakering 15th
H 2-1 v Stamford           13th
A 1-0 v Enfield Town        8th
H 1-1 v Waltham Forest   4th

So there you are lads, whilst there is the possibility of defeat against the league at Boreham Wood on Saturday, there is also the possibility of lowering their colours for the first time this season if we play anywhere near our best! Enjoy the match. They won't all be as fast as Waltham Forest, will they?

I'll be tuning in for score updates (much appreciated) as Rovers are away down at Bournemouth this weekend.

All that matters, is that we try to contain, and then make sure we take our chances. We can't continue to be a defensive sponge, because we can only soak up so much. Let's get behind the boys again!

:D
Borehamwood fan here - looking forward to a visit from you on Saturday - think it will prove an interesting game for both teams. Borehamwood will definitely enjoy the challenge of playing another top team.
How many supporters do you usually bring to away games?

Wow - be nice to see a good crowd at the Wood.
I knew you had a good following at home but wasn't sure about away. We only bring about 20 away!

dont knock the 7 forest as that is actually 10% of your average home crowd this season and if word gets around about the way your boys are playing it could well increase to 15%

have faith !!!!!!!!

i reckon we will get a point [ at least] on saturday cause BWs history suggests they are  likely to be managerless again if their charman doesnt get two eggs with his saturday breakfast !!!!

Ski - Is it safe to assume that the England game will be viewable on the TV in your club after the big game?

Can I put a towel down on a chair to reserve it, or more appropriately a white rose, the Welsh fans can take a leak in the loo.

just come back from waltham forest v potters bar  would you believe 1-1

wf scored after 15 but their back line was appaling and a couple of speedy and physical forwards ran them ragged and probably should have won.there was a slight suggestion of tuesday game tiring wf or they thought they didn't need to work so hard doe to potters bar position

apart from a couple of olduns potters bar were yet another young team.from what i have seen so far this season many teams are concentrating on young players.whether this is financial or the managers feel young lads are better to take instructions i'm not sure but i suspect the former.

i feel with our mix of youth and experience and tostao, please, to come back we should get better and better because i am sure when the heavy grounds come the very young teams will find it difficult.

anyway i think if you keep at it and stay confident you can get a result anywhere in this league so lets go for it tomorrow
