Fred Leach R I P
« on: January 07, 2012, 07:25:41 PM »

It is with regret that Dartford Football Club announce the death of our life president Fred Leach, who sadly passed away this morning.
Fred, a lovely man with a passion for Dartford Football Club was one of our "Magnificent Seven" club directors at the time of our reformation and was very much "Mr Watling Street".

Bill Archer, chairman, was a very close friend of Fred, stated that it was hugely sad news. Details of Fred's funeral will be posted here in due course.

Everyone at Dartford Football Club would like to extend the sincerest of condolences to Fred's family and friends at this time.

I remember Fred from Watling Street. Telling me off for trying to sneak into the seats without paying. A true DFC legend. RIP Fred!

Kind of brings you down to earth with a bump.  We will all have our memories.

RIP Fred.

Very sad to hear the news. As Gary said he was one of the few to whom so many of us owe so much. Hopefully there can be some kind of lasting memorial for him.

I have happy memories of working at Watling Street during the closed season in the late seventies with Fred.  He was a true gentleman and a Dartford fan through and through.  He was one of the commited few that made sacrifices to help keep the club alive during the dark days post Watling Street.

I hope that the club can find a fitting way to help us to remember Fred.

God bless.

Very sad to hear of Fred's passing away. We will never forget him or his lovely wife Babs. They were both thorougly decent people who gave so much to this club of ours. People used to say that if you cut Fred in half he would have Dartford FC written through his middle. Lovely, genuine guy who will be sadly missed. Sincere condolences to his family. Mike & Sharon.

Very sad news. Many memories of Fred from the Watling Street days, and I imagine the club will arrange something in his honour.

Very sad news indeed, Fred was one of the original guys you could honestly give the title of Mr Dartford to.
He was one of the first faces you would see at Watling St along with Joyce Fountain.
I think Fred must have done every job possible at one time or another at DFC games over the many many many years he's been involved with the club.
Fred was a true gentleman who had black & white blood running through him along with his wife who he can now be with again and both watch over the team from the best seats in the house.
Gone but certainly never forgotten.
