One of the most exciting attacking prospects in non-league football is due in Blackpool on Thursday to meet Ian Holloway and sign a two-year deal. Ryman League Premier Division club Margate's striker Kwesi Appiah has blasted 32 goals in 29 starts this season.

Watford, Portsmouth and a host of other Championship clubs had been trailing the 21-year-old but the Seasiders have jumped to the head of the queue by agreeing a £200,000 deal.

Appiah (pictured) will arrive at Bloomfield Road on Thursday to meet with Holloway and the squad, then he and his advisors will discuss personal terms with chairman Karl Oyston.

Salif Rubie, Appiah’s representative, said: “Everything has been agreed between the two clubs.

“Myself and Kwesi are going to Blackpool to meet the manager and hopefully finalise everything.

“Kwesi is very excited at the challenge of playing in the Championship.”

It will be a serious step up for Appiah, who is untested outside non-league circles. He came through the youth system at Ebbsfleet United and played for several clubs before joining Margate – who play in the Ryman Premier League, five levels below the Championship – last summer.

He has since averaged better than a goal a game, including three hat-tricks, and scouts have been flocking to watch him.

It says £200,000 deal. That will probably mean a very small fee, appearance extras, sell on clause and probably his wages as well.

You could buy league players with a proven record for that.

Constructive criticism?? Don't get it. If it's still criticism, how is it constructive?

According to Sky Sports Appiah has turned down the transfer to Blackpool because he doesn't want to move far from his home. I wonder what he would do if one of the Manchester clubs, Liverpool or Newcastle made a bid for him?

Went down to Hartsdown yesterday against Lewes. Appiah did little apart from score the 5th goal which the Lewes defence laid on for him. Bodkin stole the show with two and Avery, who seems to be a crowd favourite, got a goal himself.
Perhaps Appiah had an off day, rather liked the No9 alongside him who was a trier. Still, at half-time it was 0-0 and I was beginning to think I'd like to go home. But then the second half was a revelation once Bodkin got the opener.
They still seem to think Appiah will be gone by the end of the season, but on yesterdays performance he's no Cody.
