Due to the very short notice i won't be able to make the game on Saturday due to having a BBQ on my Birthday which can not be cancelled at short notice.

Good Luck to the lads and hopefully we can pick up a win without picking up any injuries. After a few of the players looking very tired in the last 2 or 3 games i would've thought it better to just have a training session and let the players rest. But TB certainly knows better than me.

Those travelling will no doubt be interested to see if Terry Ratchford plays and how his recovery is coming on.

Gary, your post is of a fickle fan, somebody that only remembers the recent past. Does his past commitment count for nothing now? He is a human being in a prejudiced world trying to enjoy the things he enjoys and he has made DFC a part of that.

His past commitment, of course, counts for something. But in these days where we're trying to act like a semi-professional club, this does not reflect well on us. I like Tostao as a person, and as a player but this seems to be a bit of a mirage. "He'll be back midway through pre-season, he'll be back in time for the first game, he'll be back soon, he'll be back". It's like we're chasing a ghost, and every time it seems he'll be back, something stops him (for whatever reason).

I really hope he does come back, and prove his doubters wrong, because it'll only be of benefit to the club. But, it'll get to a point where we'll be saying "If only we had Tostao" when we fail, and when we succeed it'll be "And that's without Tostao". (In fact, at Boreham Wood on Saturday, there were people saying "We'd have won this if Tostao had been playing").

As for the "fickle fan" part, I think I deserve a little bit more credibility than that - it's just a heartfelt post which is how I feel about the situation.

Well, a match albeit against much weaker opposition should be a good opportunity to play some good no pressure football, try out a few tactics, and most of all, get back to winning ways again - a bit like England in Northern Ireland last night....

Happy Birthday for Saturday Matt!

Getting this back on topic, I would think the side tomorrow will probably give the likes of JC a rest, whilst giving Pulman a chance. Something along the lines of resting Ryan Hayes, and maybe giving Dave Martin 20 minutes to see how his injury is. Thoughts?

Interesting decision to have a friendly. I can only think Tony Burman wants the team to keep the momentum going because even in defeat, it sounds like the team played well against Boreham Wood.

Sadly, I will miss it, as I'm going on a World Tour with my band Martin and the Moaners. I won't be back until 1st October when I hope to get to the Wivenhoe game. If I do it will not beat my record of Columbo Sri Lanka to Stonebridge Road in 18 hours, this will be Hong Kong to Stonebridge Road in 24 hours. Time to sleep / get delayed.

Did I mention I'm going on holiday?

Enjoy the peace.....

perhaps TB will play 4.4.2 with james[ i'm keen to keep his mum happy !!!] carter  and ian pulman up front to see how it goes

could well work as ian seems to be firing a bit now that he is getting much fitter after his illness and he has the pedigree to do well

no point in sticking to the same systems ,the  result doesnt matter and use it to try out alternatives

i wouls also wrap  "  king kevin " in cotton wool and let the young reserve goalie have a try out - he seems to be rated

i will not be there as i am special guest at the 5ths birthday barbie and wild horses wouldnt keep me away from one of his dos  !!!!!!!

Hafner's been drafted into the squad for tomorrow, which is a good move. Custard, the song's been redrafted back... he wears black and white, and his name is Stevie Hafner!!!

Lost 2-1. Goal from Jones-Butler. To be honest, we fielded a reserve/fringe players team, and the match wasn't a great one. I wasn't hugely impressed with Whitstable, but we looked lacking in defence for periods. Credit to the keeper, Dean James, and to Ian Pulman again for another promising performance.

Sounds like i had a better day doing the BBQ then and made the right decision not to go.

What was the line up Gary and how did Steve Hafner look if he played?

First half: James, Olsen, Potter (c), Dennis, Creasey, Hafner, Lawrence, Maguire, Pulman, Elmes, Jones-Butler.

Second half: Mainly the same, but Hayes/Avery/?/Martin came on.

Haffy looked a bit out of touch, if the truth be known but still managed to get one or two decent balls in.

Thanks Gary.

Given a bit of time to settle back in im sure Haffie will get back to how he was playing just before he left us, fingers crossed that Maldon haven't ruined him.
