Well, we finally got the new league off to a start and after Carly winning the first game of the season she heads the table!  Well done, let's see if you can build a big enough lead over the next few weeks to last you through Oz!

I JUST WANT TO EXPLAIN MY THOUGHTS ABOUT OUR WEDNESDAY POKER LEAGUE.
FIRSTLY I HAVE NO PROBLEM AT ALL REGARDING WHO COMES TO PLAY ON WEDNESDAYS.
HOWEVER, 3 WEEKS AGO WE ALL DECIDED THAT AS THERE WAS A REGULAR 9 PLAYERS TURNING UP , IT WOULD HAVE BEEN UNFAIR THAT ONLY 8 MADE THE FINAL TABLE. SO WE ALL DECIDED THAT ALL 9 REGULAR PLAYERS WILL PLAY IN THE FINAL TABLE.
HALFWAY THROUGH OUR SEASON OTHER PLAYERS STARTED TURNING UP.AGAIN NO PROBLEM ABOUT THEM PLAYING.
HOWEVER I THINK IT WOULD BE UNFAIR TO INCLUDE THESE LATECOMERS IN THE FINAL TABLE .
AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE LEAGUE TABLE 2 OF THE ORIGINAL 9 PLAYERS HAVE NOW BEEN DROPPED FROM THE FINAL TABLE WHICH IS TOTALLY UNFAIR IN MY OPINION.
WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK

Sorry, I can't see your argument.  At the beginning of the season everybody has 10 games to score as many points as possible.  Whether they do it in 3 games or all 10.  People who play 10 games have a massive advantage as they get more opportunities to a. reach the final table and b. build a decent chip lead for the final table.

When it was "agreed" we'd have a 9 game final table I didn't agree.  I did say whatever everybody wants because I'm not fussed whether there's 9 or 8.  As one of the players who's in danger of not being at the final table it was in my best interests to agree, but I didn't fully.  Hence the lack of a 9 seat final table atm on the spreadsheet.  The reason I didn't update the table was because in every season there's been late entries that can potentially make the final table.  There was always the possibility that this could happen again, either with new players or old players returning to the fold.  As you say, you "agreed" the 9 seater final table 3 weeks ago.  There had been 3 games played at that point, it wasn't even half way through the season.

Ever since Martin and I started the Poker Club we've always invited new players and players who couldn't play every week.  It's never been a closed shop and as long as I'm still going it never will be.  I've made good friends through playing poker and the games at the club and I hope I'll make more, whether I meet them on fixture 1 or fixture 10 of a season.

In the history of our 10 game seasons every season has had final tablers that hasn't played in every fixture, take a look:

Season 3:

Lard and Barry, from the courthouse, made the final table playing 5 games.  Gregg, Chairman Dave, TV and Gary all failed to make the final table having played at least 6 games.  TV had played in all 10 games.  Nobody complained!

Season 4:

Gregg made the final table playing 4 games.  Terry and Alf both missed out playing 7 and 8 games respectively.  Nobody complained!

Season 5:

Mike made the final table after playing just 2, yes 2, games!  GH didn't after playing 5 games.  Nobody complained!

Season 6:

Martin made the final table after only playing 5 games.  Emma, Carly and Mike all missed out having played 7, 8 and 8 games respectively. Nobody complained!

So, as far as I'm concerned all players are welcome and all players can still qualify.  If an original 9 doesn't make the final table then that's unfortunate but hopefully they'll keep trying.  Emma has gained enough points to play so far and if she continues to come and makes the final table then good luck to her, or Gregg, or Becky, or potentially Martin, Terry, Kev or John Smith.  Hopefully if somebody doesn't make the final table they'll try again next season, like the GH's and TV's of the world have done in the past!

EVERY BODY IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINION,AND THATS A FAIR POINT YOU HAVE MADE MATT.
I WILL BE DROPPING OUT OF THE LEAGUE FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON BECAUSE WE MADE AN AGREEMENT 3 WEEKS AGO AND I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT WE ARE GOING BACK ON OUR WORD.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON .

ONLY A SUGGESTION .
MAYBE NEXT SEASON WE JUST PLAY FRIENDLIES AND PEOPLE CAN COME AND GO AS THEY LIKE.
NO BAD FEELINGS FROM ME.
SEE YOU AT PP ON SAT FOR THE FOOTIE

You made an agreement for a 9 seated final table.  Not that we closed the game for newcomers.

It's a shame you're not going to play again but whether friendlies or league games people are always free to come and go as they please.

Sorry KM.  TV was just quicker to write than Kentish Man.  Look, I've written it once and already my fingers ache!

Maybe that's where the strength has come from.  When season 3 took place you were TV and then after you failed to make the final table you became Kentish Man and went from strength to strength!  Maybe from next season I'll become The Magician and see if that changes my luck, oops skill!

Well there's a pathetic hissy fit.

No hard feelings but you've dropped out the league.

Sounds like a bad loser throwing his toys out of the pram to me. Silly old sod.
